Kunihiro Abe
was a Japanese animator. Abe was known for his mechanical animation, in particular his animation for various projects in Sunrise's Gundam franchise. Kunihiro Abe was also a notable animator in various AIC projects, such as ''Bubblegum Crisis,'' ''Dangaioh'', ''Vampire Princess Miyu'', ''Dragon Century, Megazone 23 Part III, Sol Bianca, Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight, Armitage III, El Hazard - The Magnificent World,'' and ''Blue Gender''s. Abe worked also with animator Masami Obari on ''Fight! Iczer-One, Dangaioh,'' and Daimaju Gekito Hagane no Oni and with animator Kou Matsuo. Abe died on 15 August 2018 at the age of 50 of undisclosed cause. Abe's daughter shared one of his illustrations, and noted that "she knew her father loved to draw and could not live as anything other than an animator". An animator is an artist who creates multiple images, known as frames, which give an illusion of movement called animation when displayed in rapid sequence. Animators can work in a variety of fields including film, television, and video games. Animation is closely related to filmmaking and like filmmaking is extremely labor-intensive, which means that most significant works require the collaboration of several animators. Stardust Memory
is a 13-episode anime OVA series set in the Gundam universe. The first volume containing two 30-minute episodes was released in Japan on May 23, 1991. Subsequent volumes, containing one 30-minute episode each, followed every one or two months; the final volume went on sale on September 24, 1992. The series was directed by Mitsuko Kase (episodes 1–7) and Takashi Imanishi (episodes 8–13). A movie compilation, also directed by Imanishi was released in Japan on August 29, 1992, a month before the final OVA volume went on sale. The characters were designed by Toshihiro Kawamoto. Mechanical designs were by Shoji Kawamori (of '' Macross'' fame) and Hajime Katoki. is a 2013 Japanese science fiction anime television series based on Sunrise's long-running ''Gundam'' franchise. The series is directed by Kenji Nagasaki of ''No. 6'' and written by Yōsuke Kuroda of ''Mobile Suit Gundam 00''. Character designs were done by both Kenichi Ohnuki and Suzuhito Yasuda. ''Iczer One'', known in Japan as , is a 1983 sci-fi horror and yuri manga published in the hentai magazine ''Lemon People''. It was created by Aran Rei. In 1985 the story was adapted into a three part Original Video Animation directed by Toshihiro Hirano.
