Kungu is a town and capital of one of the four territories of Sud-Ubangi Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ngiri River
The Ngiri River (or Giri River) is a tributary of the Ubangi River that flows southward through the Sud-Ubangi District of Province of Équateur, Équateur province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Ngiri originates near the town of Kungu in Kungu Territory. It forms the boundary between this territory and the Budjala Territory to the east, and then the boundary with the Bomongo Territory to the south. It then flows south through Bomongo Territory past the town of Bomongo on its right bank, entering the Ubangi further south. The Ngiri River flows from north to south through the center of the Ngiri Reserve before joining the Ubangi. A wide zone bordering the Ngiri consists of alternating marshy grassland-savanna, swamp forests and seasonally flooded forests. The savanna is burned in the dry season. At other times it is flooded. Sud-Ubangi
Sud-Ubangi (French for "South Ubangi") is one of the 21 new provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo created in the 2015 repartitioning. It lies in the northwest of the country on the Ubangi River. Sud-Ubangi, Équateur, Mongala, Nord-Ubangi, and Tshuapa provinces are the result of the dismemberment of the former Équateur province. Sud-Ubangi was formed from the Sud-Ubangi district and the independently administered city of Zongo. The town of Gemena was elevated to capital city of the new province. Flag Of The Democratic Republic Of The Congo
The national flag of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (french: drapeau de la république démocratique du Congo) is a sky blue flag, adorned with a yellow star in the upper left canton and cut diagonally by a red stripe with a yellow fimbriation. It was adopted on 20 February 2006. A new constitution, ratified in December 2005 and which came into effect in February 2006, promoted a return to a flag similar to that flown between 1963 and 1971, with a change from a royal blue to sky blue background. Ubangi River
The Ubangi River (), also spelled Oubangui, is the largest right-bank tributary of the Congo River in the region of Central Africa. It begins at the confluence of the Mbomou (mean annual discharge 1,350 m3/s) and Uele Rivers (mean annual discharge 1,550 m3/s) and flows west, forming the border between Central African Republic (CAR) and Democratic Republic of the Congo. Ngiri Reserve
The Ngiri Reserve is a protected area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is located in western Équateur province, in the Bomongo, Bikoro and Makanza territories, and covers a total area of . It extends northward from the confluence of the Congo River and the Ubangi River. According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) the reserve will conserve biodiversity and the ecosystem in the Ngiri triangle. History It was first proposed to make the Ngiri triangle, the area between the Ubangi, Congo and Ngiri rivers, into a reserve in 1975, but the project could not be completed.
