Kumudini Boat Massacre
The Kumudini or Kumuthini boat massacre (Tamil:குமுதினி படகுப் படுகொலைகள்) happened on 15 May 1985 when at least 23 minority Sri Lankan Tamil men, women and children on a ferry boat named Kumudini sailing from the island of Delft to the island of Nainathivu were killed by Sri Lankan Navy personnel. According to eyewitness accounts six men believed to be from the Sri Lanka navy, dressed in T-shirts and blue longs and some in shorts, boarded the ferry boat. One by one the passengers were called to the aft section of the boat and told to shout their name, age, address and the destination of their journey. Kumudini College
Kumudini Government College ( bn, কুমুদিনী সরকারী কলেজ), also called Kumudini Mohila College, located in Tangail, is a women's college affiliated with Bangladesh National University. The college was established in 1943 by Ranada Prasad Saha, a businessman and philanthropist, became affiliated with the University of Calcutta in 1944, and was nationalized in 1979. Until 1959 when Muminunnisa Mohila College was established in Mymensingh, it was the only women's college in East Pakistan. Programmes The college offers higher secondary and degree programmes as well as post-secondary Honours and Masters programmes. The college also arranges cultural, literary and sports programmes for its students. Kumudini Lakhia
Kumudini Lakhia (born 17 May 1930) is an Indian Kathak dancer and choreographer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where she founded Kadamb School of Dance and Music, an institute of Indian dance and music in 1967. A pioneer in contemporary Kathak dance, she is credited for moving away from the solo form of Kathak starting in the 1960s, by turning it into a group spectacle, and also innovations like taking away traditional stories and adding contemporary storylines into Kathak repertoire. Early life and education Lakhia started her Kathak training with Sohanlal from the Bikaner Gharana at age seven. This was followed by Ashiq Hussain of Benaras Gharana and Sunder Prasad of the Jaipur school. Sub-Lieutenant Kumudini Tyagi is a serving officer in the Indian Navy. She is one of the first two women, along with Sub-Lieutenant Riti Singh, to have earned their wings for operating from Indian Navy warships. Early life Tyagi was born in Ghaziabad, in 1997 to Pravesh Kumar Tyagi and Reena Tyagi. The family hails from Kharkhoda, Meerut, but moved to Ghaziabad in 1983.
