Kumarimuthu (20 December 1940 – 28 February 2016) was a Tamil film character actor, comedian and politician of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He was known for his unique comical laugh. Career Kumarimuthu starred in 728 films in his career spanning over three decades. He usually played comic roles and was known for his trademark laugh. He was a member of the political party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Kumarimuthu was also a member of Nadigar Sangam The Nadigar Sangam ( en, Actors' association), officially known as the South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA), is a union for film, television, and stage actors in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, based in Chennai. ''Nandu'' () is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Mahendran. The film stars Suresh and Ashwini. It is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by Sivasankari. The film was released on 17 April 1981 and failed commercially. Plot Ramkumar Sharma is a sickly engineer living in Lucknow in a large family. He suffers from asthma and does not like the behaviour of his autocratic father, but is deeply attached to his loving mother. Unable to get along with his father who compels him to marry a girl of his choice, Sharma leaves for Madras. He finds a job there and meets Seetha. ''Metti'' () is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Mahendran. The film stars Sarath Babu, C. R. Vijayakumari, Raadhika, Vadivukkarasi and Rajesh. It is based on Mahendran's own novel of the same name that was serialised in the magazine ''Chaavi''. The film was released on 14 January 1982. Plot Pattabhi arrives on the scene looking to rent a house. He befriends a tea seller and an all purpose broker, who takes him to Kalyani amma's house. When he meets her, Pattabhi reveals that he is the son of Kalyani's estranged husband and that he has come to expiate for his father's sins. Kalyani allows him to rent a room in her house and Pattabhi meets his two sisters Sulekha and Preetha, who is dressed as a Gujarathi woman. ''Oomai Vizhigal'' (; Gouged eyes) is an Indian 1986 Tamil-language crime action film directed by R. Aravindraj. The film stars Vijayakanth, Arun Pandian, Karthik, Chandrasekhar and Jaishankar, along with Ravichandran and Malaysia Vasudevan in negative role. It was released on 15 August 1986 and completed more than 150 days in theaters. Plot A group of college girls, driving a light blue matador, arrive at Chola Picnic Village. ''Kai Kodukkum Kai'' () is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Mahendran, starring Rajinikanth and Revathi. It is an extended version of ''Munithayi'' written by Eeswarachandra – the third segment of the 1976 Kannada anthology film '' Katha Sangama''. The Nadigar Sangam ( en, Actors' association), officially known as the South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA), is a union for film, television, and stage actors in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, based in Chennai. Formed in 1952, the group has a charitable trust fund to provide pensions to retired actors, voice support for actors caught in controversy, and have collectively protested socio-political issues. Elections in the Nadigar Sangam, which is made up of over 3000 members, are held once every three years to determine the president of the group. R. Sarathkumar, who had been elected unopposed three times since 2006 when former president Vijayakanth stepped down, was ousted after an election on 18 October 2015 by Nassar.
