Kuliyapitiya Central College
Central College Kuliyapitiya (මධ්ය විද්යාලයය කුලියාපිටිය ) is a national school for boys and girls in Sri Lanka, in the suburb of Kuliyapitiya. The school was founded in 1947. Early history Following the central school concept of former Minister of Education C. W. W. Kannangara, under the patronage of the government, a bilingual mixed school was inaugurated in the Dandagamuwa electoral division on 3 February 1947. Central College Kuliyapitiya was the 54th and the last Central College. Mr. P. Senarath was appointed as the first principal of Central College Kuliyapitiya. The first session was attended by 149 students, 67 more the following day. There were 551 students on 17 February 1947. Under the patronage of the MP I. M. R. A. National School (Sri Lanka)
A National school ( si, ජාතික පාසල, Jathika Pasala, ta, தேசியப் பாடசாலை) in Sri Lanka is a school that is funded and administered by the Ministry of Education of the central government as opposed to Provincial schools run by the local provincial council. These schools provide secondary education (some including collegiate), with some providing primary education as well. The classification began in 1985, with 18 schools being designated as national schools. Today, there are 373 National Schools in country constituting 3 percent of total National and Provincial Schools. Kuliyapitiya
Kuliyapitiya is the second largest town in Kurunegala District, North Western Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. It is located north-east of Colombo and from Kurunegala. Kuliyapitiya is home to the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. Coconut and paddy cultivation are the main economic activities in this area. The town centre includes commerce and retail enterprises.
