Kulebaksky District (russian: Кулеба́кский райо́н) was an administrativeOrder #3-od; revision prior to May 22, 2015 and municipalResolution #670; revision as of August 28, 2014 district (raion) in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia. It was located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district was . Its administrative center was the town of Kulebaki. As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 52,377, with the population of Kulebaki accounting for 68.3% of that number. History The district was established in 1929. Yakov Ivanovich Tryapitsyn (russian: Яков Иванович Тряпицын) (25 April 1897 – 9 July 1920) was a Russian and Soviet military and political figure. Yelena Aleksandrovna Vlasova-Afanasyeva (russian: Елена Александровна Афанасьева; born March 1, 1967, in Kulebaki) is a former Russian athlete who competed in the 800 metres. Her greatest achievements include a European title as well as a 1997 World Championships silver medal. The same year she achieved the time of 1:56.61 minutes in Zurich.
