Kulan
The Turkmenian kulan (''Equus hemionus kulan''), also called Transcaspian wild ass, Turkmenistani onager or simply the ', is a subspecies of onager (Asiatic wild ass) native to Central Asia. It was declared Endangered in 2016. The species's population had recently been in decline in the country while it slowly increases in reintroduction sites. The Turkmenian kulan has been reintroduced to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as Israel, where the subspecies are hybridizing with Persian onagers in the wild. Previously in 2005, the population was estimated at 1,295-1,345 in Turkmenistan. No other data existed on the condition of the Turkmenistan populations, but hope remained that small groups of animals still resided in inaccessible areas around Badkhyz, and were thriving in the West Kopetdagh (Sumbar-Chandyr Valley) and Ustyurt Plateau around Lake Sarakamish. Kulan, Kazakhstan
Kulan ( kk, Құлан, ''Qūlan''), named Lugovoe (Russian language, Russian: Луговое) until 1992, is a small town that is the administrative centre of the Turar Ryskulov District of the Jambyl Region of Kazakhstan. The train station in Kulan is located along the route that connects Taraz, Bishkek and Shu. On 23 May 2003, Kulan was at the epicentre of an earthquake that was estimated at 6.5–7.0 on the Richter scale. Kulan Gath is a fictional villainous magician appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and Dynamite Entertainment. The character first appeared in ''Conan the Barbarian'' #15 (May 1972) as a foe of Conan. He was later fully integrated into the Marvel Universe, and he became popular for his appearances in ''X-Men''.
