Kudirat Olayinka Adeyemi
Alhaja Kudirat Abiola (born Kudirat Olayinka Adeyemi), popularly known simply as Kudirat Abiola (1951 – 4 June 1996), was a Nigerian pro-democracy campaigner. She was assassinated whilst her husband, Moshood Abiola, was being detained by the Nigerian Government. He was the winning candidate in elections that had taken place in Nigeria in 1993, and was arrested shortly after they were summarily annulled by the ruling junta. Life She was born in 1951 in Zaria in Nigeria. Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was the second woman to have married her husband. At the time of her death, she was his senior wife. Hajji ( ar, الحجّي; sometimes spelled Hadji, Haji, Alhaji, Al-Hadj, Al-Haj or El-Hajj) is an honorific title which is given to a Muslim who has successfully completed the Hajj to Mecca. It is also often used to refer to an elder, since it can take years to accumulate the wealth to fund the travel (and did particularly before the advent of mass air travel), and in many Muslim societies to a respected man as an honorific title. Walter Carrington
Walter C. Carrington (July 24, 1930 – August 11, 2020) was an American diplomat who served as the United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Senegal and Nigeria. Carrington served as the U.S. Ambassador to Senegal from 1980 to 1981. He was appointed by U.S. President Bill Clinton in 1993 as the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, where he remained until 1997.
