Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge
Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge (Malay: ''Jambatan Angkat Kuala Terengganu'', Jawi: جمبتن اڠكت كوالا ترڠڬانو) is a bascule bridge (commonly referred to as a 'drawbridge') in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia, which crosses the mouth of Terengganu River. The bridge is the fourth bridge in Kuala Terengganu City area that straddles the river after Sultan Mahmud Bridge, Manir Bridge, and Pulau Sekati Bridge. Overview Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge is a part of the projects for the East Coast Economic Region (ECER). It is the first drawbridge built in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, constructed by Zelan Construction Sdn Bhd with a cost of RM248 million. Kuala Nerus
Kuala Nerus is a district in Terengganu, Malaysia. It is the youngest district in the state, having been declared a separate district in 2014. Formerly it was part of Kuala Terengganu district (North Kuala Terengganu) but still governed by Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) which is one of few city councils in Malaysia to govern two separate districts. Ampera Bridge ( id, Jembatan Ampera, for andate of People's Suffering a now-rarely used colloquial name for the preamble of the Constitution of Indonesia), formerly Bung Karno Bridge ( id, Jembatan Bung Karno, after President Sukarno) between its opening and the 1966 De-Sukarnoization campaign, is a vertical-lift bridge in the city of Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (''University of Malaysia, Terengganu'') or UMT, formerly known as Kolej Universiti Sains dan Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysian Science and Technology University College) or KUSTEM, is a university in Kuala Nerus District, Terengganu, Malaysia. Sultan Mahmud Airport
Sultan Mahmud Airport is an airport in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, Malaysia. The airport serves Kuala Terengganu which is located away. In 2017, it handled 943,660 passengers with 11,485 aircraft movements. It was named after the 16th Sultan of Terengganu, Almarhum Mahmud of Terengganu, Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, who ruled from 1979 to 1998. In January 2008, the Malaysian government approved RM200 million to upgrade the airport. This includes funding to extend the runway and upgrade the terminal of the airport. The terminal was designed to handle 2 million passengers every year. Malaysia Airlines has agreed with Tabung Haji that it will also bring passengers to Mecca via Jeddah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. Seberang Takir
Seberang Takir ( Jawi: سبرڠ تاكير) is a small town in Kuala Nerus District, Terengganu, Malaysia. The town consists of several fishing villages namely Kampung Baru Seberang Takir, Kampung Hulu Takir, Kampung Padang Takir, Kampung Batin and Kampung Seberang Takir itself. History The name "Seberang" means "across" referring to the place (Seberang Takir) being across the Terengganu river separating it from the city of Kuala Terengganu. The name "takir" however means "cut" so the full name of the town is "Across to cut". Based on Terengganu history, Seberang Takir is a place where prisoners were held to serve capital punishment for their crimes by cutting off hands or feet.
