Krzysztof Słaboń or Chris Slabon (born 21 February 1981) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. Speedway career Słaboń also held a Canadian licence and rode under the Canadian flag during the 1999 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship. He first rode in the top tier of British Speedway riding for the Ipswich Witches during the 2002 Elite League speedway season, he would later return to the East Anglian club for the 2003 Elite League speedway season and 2010 Elite League speedway seasons. His Polish career lasted from 1998 to 2011 and he rode mainly for Sparta Wrocław and Polonia Bydgoszcz Polonia Bydgoszcz is a Polish sports club based in Bydgoszcz most known for its speedway team ŻKS Polonia Bydgoszcz which currently races in the 1. Robert Słaboń (born 15 September 1953) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned 11 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Speedway career Słaboń reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1979 Individual Speedway World Championship. He has twice won the bronze medal at the Polish Individual Speedway Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway, riding for Eastbourne Eagles during the 1981 British League season but disappointed scoring a season average of only 2.89. The majority of his career was spent in his native Poland riding for Sparta Wrocław. Family His son Krzysztof Słaboń was also a speedway rider. The 2003 Elite League speedway season was the 69th season of the top division of speedway in the United Kingdom and governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). Season summary In 2003, the league decreased to eight teams, after the King's Lynn dropped to the Premier League and reverted back to their traditional name of Stars. They also lost the promotion of Nigel Wagstaff who took over at Oxford, which resulted in Oxford Cheetahs taking over the Silver Machine name from King's Lynn. King's Lynn's leading riders Nicki Pedersen and Sebastian Ułamek also switched to Oxford. Freddie Eriksson went to Ipswich. The 2002 Elite League speedway season was the 68th season of the top division of speedway in the United Kingdom and in 2002 was governed by the Speedway Control Board (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Ipswich Witches
The Ipswich Witches are a British speedway club based at Foxhall Stadium near Ipswich, Suffolk. They compete in the British SGB Premiership. Meetings are staged on most Thursdays from March until October, normally commencing at 7.30pm (first race 7.45pm). The Witches are currently promoted by former Ipswich riders Chris Louis and Ritchie Hawkins.
