Krzysztof Ignaczak
Krzysztof Ignaczak (born 15 May 1978) is a Polish former professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland national team in 1998–2014. A participant at the Olympic Games ( Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012), the 2014 World Champion, 2012 World League winner, and the 2009 European Champion. Personal life Krzysztof Ignaczak was born in Wałbrzych, Poland. He is married to Iwona. They have two children: a son, Sebastian, and a daughter, Dominika (who was born after the European Championship 2009). His best friend was volleyball player Arkadiusz Gołaś, who died in a tragic car accident in 2005. Since then Ignaczak played with his shirt number – 16. Wałbrzych
Wałbrzych (; german: Waldenburg; szl, Wałbrzich; sli, label= Lower Silesian, Walmbrig or ''Walmbrich''; cs, Valbřich or ) is a city located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in southwestern Poland. Asseco Resovia Rzeszów
Resovia, officially known for sponsorship reasons as Asseco Resovia, is a professional men's volleyball club based in Rzeszów in southeastern Poland, founded in 1937. They compete in the Polish PlusLiga. The club has won seven Polish Champion titles, and three Polish Cups. They won four league titles in the 1970s, and the first title in the 21st century in 2012, which put an end to Skra Bełchatów's dominance in the PlusLiga which lasted for 7 consecutive seasons. PlusLiga
The PlusLiga is the highest level of men's volleyball in Poland, a professional league competition featuring volleyball clubs located in this country. It is overseen by Polska Liga Siatkówki SA (PLS SA). It is currently a 16 teams league from October to April/May. The regular season is followed by playoffs, with the winner earning the Polish Championship ( pl, Mistrzostwo Polski). It is one of the best volleyball leagues in Europe, being highly ranked in the international competitions. Arkadiusz Gołaś
Arkadiusz Gołaś (10 May 1981 – 16 September 2005) was a Polish volleyball player, member of the Poland men's national volleyball team in 2001–2005, participant of the Olympic Games (Athens 2004). Personal life He married Agnieszka (née Dziewońska) on July 21, 2005. His best man was another volleyball player, his best friend Krzysztof Ignaczak. On September 16, 2005 Arkadiusz died in Griffen, Austria near Klagenfurt in Austria on the A2 motorway when the car he was riding in struck a concrete wall. His wife, Agnieszka, who was driving, survived. They were on their way to Macerata, where Arkadiusz was due to begin playing his first season at the club Lube Banca Macerata. His last match with the Polish national team was on September 8, 2005, when Poland beat Portugal (3-0). His funeral held on September 22, 2005 in Ostrołęka.
