Krynychanske; russian: Криничанское, Krinichanskoye or Chervonohvardiiske; russian: Червоногвардейское, Chervonogvardeyskoye is a rural settlement in Kadiivka urban hromada, Alchevsk Raion ( district), Luhansk Oblast ( region), Ukraine. Population: Geography Chervonohvardiiske is located from Kirovsk, Luhansk Oblast, and from the railway station at Sentianivka. History The settlement was founded as Krynychanske in 1948 in connection with the "Krynychanska-Pivdenna" coal mine. It was subordinated to the nearby city Kirovsk. In 1953, Krynychanske was renamed to Krasnohvardeisk.; russian: Красногвардейское, Krasnogvardeyskoye In 1965, it was renamed again, to Chervonohvardiiske. Kirovsk, Luhansk Oblast
Kirovsk ( uk, Кіровськ, russian: Kировск), known in Ukraine as Holubivka ( uk, Голубі́вка), is a city in Luhansk Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It is incorporated as a city of oblast significance. Population: , . History The settlement was founded in 1764 as a village named Golubovka by the Russian colonel and native of Serbia, Peter Golub. Its history follows closely the history of industrial development in the Eastern Ukraine. When coal mines were developed in the area, the village became known as Golubovskiy Rudnik. It reached its peak size in the 1980s. When the area was recaptured from Nazi Germany in 1944, the settlement was renamed Kirovsk after the murdered former mayor of Leningrad. In 1962 the settlement was granted city rights. The landscape around the town still has pyramid-shaped manmade hills. Sentianivka ( uk, Сентянівка; russian: link=no, Сентяновка), known as Frunze ( uk, Фрунзе) from 1930 to 2016, is a rural settlement in Kadiivka urban hromada, Alchevsk Raion ( district), Luhansk Oblast ( region), Ukraine, at about 43 km WNW from the centre of Luhansk city, on the banks of the Luhan River. Decommunization in Ukraine started during and after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. With the success of the Revolution of Dignity in 2014, the Ukrainian government approved Ukrainian decommunization laws, laws that outlawed communist symbols. On 15 May 2015, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a set of laws that started a six-month period for the removal of communist monuments (excluding World War II monuments) and renaming of public places named after communist-related themes. At the time, this meant that 22 cities and 44 villages were set to get new names. Until 21 November 2015, municipal governments had the authority to implement this; if they failed to do so, the Oblasts of Ukraine had until 21 May 2016 to change the names.
