Kristy Jenion
Kristy McDonald (born May 20, 1979 as Kristy Jenion) is a Canadian from Winnipeg, Manitoba. McDonald retired from 2016–2021, but returned to the playing for the 2021–22 season. Career Juniors McDonald had a strong junior career, skipping teams to win both the 1996 and 1999 Manitoba Junior Curling Championships. She would represent Manitoba in both of those years at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the 1996 Canadian Juniors, her team which included Ainsley Holowec, Shea Westcott and Raunora Westcott finished with a 5–7 record at the Canadian Juniors. At the 1999 Canadian Juniors, her team was made up of Reagan Wilkie, Charmaine Forese and Kyla Denisuik. McDonald led her team to a 7–5 record at the 1999 Juniors, which was not good enough to make the playoffs. 2004–2010 After juniors, McDonald graduated to a women's curling career. 1996 Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The 1996 Maple Leaf Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the men's and women's national junior curling championships of Canada, were held February 3 to 11 at the Shamrock and Granite Curling Clubs in Edmonton, Alberta. The 1996 event was the first to be sponsored by Maple Leaf Foods. In their first season together, the Jeff Currie rink, representing Northern Ontario won the men's event, defeating future Olympic champion Ryan Fry and his team from Manitoba in the final. The team went on to represent Canada at the 1996 World Junior Curling Championships in Red Deer, where they finished fourth. It was Northern Ontario's fourth junior men's title. The women's side was won by the Heather Godberson (now Nedohin) rink from Alberta. Team Alberta would defeat Saskatchewan, skipped by Cindy Street in the final. 2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Manitoba's women's provincial curling championship, was held January 26–30 in Altona, Manitoba at the Sunflower Gardens Arena. The winning Cathy Overton-Clapham team represented Manitoba at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The team went 4-7 in round robin play. Teams The sixteen Manitoba Safeway qualifiers are selected through the 1-9 rural zones, the 10-14 Winnipeg zones, the winning team from the Berth Bonspiel, and the CurlManitoba Women's Bonspiel winner from the previous 2009-2010 season. Chelsea Carey
Chelsea Danielle Carey (born September 12, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is the 2016 and 2019 Canadian and Alberta women's champion skip and 2014 Manitoba provincial women's champion skip. Career Earlier career Carey curled in six provincial junior championships, but did not win the event. She did win the 2000 Juvenile Provincial championship which she followed up with a silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Juvenile championship. She was also the Manitoba high school provincial champion in 2002. Carey has won a number of World Curling Tour (WCT) events including the 2005 Manitoba Lotteries Wheat City Curling Classic, the 2006 Interlake Pharmacy Classic (playing third for Barb Spencer in both events), and the Interlake Pharmacy Classic again in 2009, culminating with winning the 2009 Manitoba Curling Tour Championship. The 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national curling championship, was held from February 21 to March 1 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. Teams Round-Robin Standings Quebec was awarded 2nd Place by virtue of the pre tournament draw to the button plus victories over Team PEI and Team Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan was awarded 3rd place by virtue of having beaten both Team Canada and Team PEI during the round robin. Barb Spencer
Barbara Spencer (born Barbara Jay Kirkness, February 14, 1966) is a Canadian curler from Sanford, Manitoba. Spencer is a former Canadian Junior champion and a three-time provincial champion. Career Spencer had a successful junior career, playing third for her sister, Darcy's team. The team won the 1984 Canadian Junior Curling Championships for Manitoba. Two years later, Spencer won the provincial mixed championship, playing third for Hal Tanasichuk. Spencer won her first provincial women's title, playing third for her sister, Darcy. The rink, which also included Barbara Fetch and Faye Irwin would go on to represent Manitoba at the 1986 Scott Tournament of Hearts. The team finished the tournament in a three-way tie for 4th place and a 6-5 record. Spencer did not return to the Hearts until she won the 2003 provincial title. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Ronald Wilson Reagan ( ; February 6, 1911June 5, 2004) was an American politician, actor, and union leader who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989. He also served as the 33rd governor of California from 1967 to 1975, after having a career in entertainment. Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois.
