Kristofor Kisi
Archbishop Christopher of Albania ( sq, Kryepeshkopi Kristofori i Shqipërisë, el, Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αλβανίας Χριστοφόρος, secular name Sotir Kisi, el, Σωτήριος Κίσσης; 1881, Berat - 17 June 1958) was the primate of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania from 1937 to 1949. In 1959 he was found dead by poison. Biography Kisi was born in Berat in 1881. In 1937 he became the primate of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania as successor of Visarion Xhuvani, as authorized by the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which recognized the Holy Synod of the Church of Albania in April 1937. During World War II Kisi backed up the initiative of Italy and the Vatican (subsequently aborted) to unite the Orthodox Church with the Uniate Church. Archbishop Paisi ( sq, Kryepeshkop Paisi, secular name Pashko Vodica; 1881 – 4 March 1966) was the Primate of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania from 1949 to 1966. He succeeded Archbishop Kristofor and was succeeded by Archbishop Damian. He was the father of Josif Pashko, a high ranking communist leader. Life Pashko Vodica was born in the village of Vodicë, Kolonjë region in southern Albania, back then Ottoman Empire. He attended primary school in his hometown, but did not complete it. In 1910, the now-married Pashko ordained. In 1912 he was arrested by the Ottoman authorities because of his activities for the Albanian national movement.
