Krishnan Kaniyamparambil
Krishnan Kaniyamparambil (1948 - 12 February 2005) was an Indian politician who was the Minister of Agriculture from 9 June 1997 to 13 May 2001. He was the secretary of the Communist Party of India Legislature Party from 1967 to 1969 in Kerala. Biography He was entering politics in 1965, through the CPI, he was actively involved in political activities early from school days. Later, he became active in the trade union field as well. He had to endure police assault, and also had to undergo imprisonment for a week, in connection with an AISF agitation, in 1968. He became elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly thrice, in 1987, 1991 and 1996 from Nattika constituency, contesting as CPI candidate. He had served as the Minister for Agriculture from 9 June 1997 to 13 May 2001, in the Ministry headed by Shri. E.K. Nayanar. He had likewise a remarkable stint as the Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances during 1991- 1996, and the Committee on Estimates from 1996 to 1997. A ... Communist Party of India (CPI) is the oldest Marxist–Leninist communist party in India and one of the nine national parties in the country. The CPI was founded in modern-day Kanpur (formerly known as Cawnpore) on 26 December 1925. Kerala
Kerala ( ; ) is a state on the Malabar Coast of India. It was formed on 1 November 1956, following the passage of the States Reorganisation Act, by combining Malayalam-speaking regions of the erstwhile regions of Cochin, Malabar, South Canara, and Thiruvithamkoor. AISF
The All India Students' Federation (AISF) is the oldest surviving student organisation in India, founded in 1936. Pre-independence AISF was founded on 12 August 1936, with guidance and cooperation from the Indian independence movement. The foundation conference of the AISF was held at Ganga Prasad Memorial Hall in Lucknow, with 936 delegates from across India. The conference was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru, and presided over by M.A. Jinnah. The conference resolved to establish an All India Students' Federation, and Prem Narayan Bhargava was elected as the first general secretary. The second conference of the AISF was held three months later, beginning on 22 November 1936 in Lahore. It mainly discussed and adopted the constitution of the AISF. Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union
Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union literally 'Indian Land Workers Union' is a trade union of agricultural labourers in India. BKMU is politically tied to the Communist Party of India (CPI). BKMU is independent from both the main trade union central of CPI, the All India Trade Union Congress, as well as the farmers' organisation of CPI, the All India Kisan Sabha. Around 5% of agricultural labourers in India are union affiliated. BKMU is one of the major unions working amongst them. The main areas of influence of BKMU are Kerala (where its state unit is known as 'Kerala State Karshaka Thozhilali Federation'), Punjab, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh (where its state unit is known as 'Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham'), Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
