Krishnagar College
Krishnagar Government College, established in 1846, is the oldest college in Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences and also some postgraduate courses. At first, the college was under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. Presently, it is affiliated to University of Kalyani (KU), National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and University Grant Commission (UGC). History Krishnagar Government College is the oldest college of the district. In 1846 Lord Hardinge approved the establishment proposal of the college. Nadia Raj Srishchandra Roy and Maharani Swarnamoyee Devi from Cossimbazar estate donated the land for it. The palatial building was made in 1856. Krishnanagar (; also spelled Krishnagar) is a city and a municipality. in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarter of the Nadia district. History Krishnanagar municipality was established in 1864 and is one of the oldest municipalities. It is claimed to be named after Krishna Chandra Ray (1728–1782). Sudhir Chakravarti (19 September 1934 – 15 December 2020) was a Bengali educationist and essayist. He made a vast contribution in Bengal's folk culture development and research. Chakravarti had completely changed the style of colonial prose with his new narrative style. Dilip Bagchi
Dilip Bagchi (1935 — 11 January 2007) was a Bengalis, Bengali mass singer, educationist and political activist. He was an active member of Indian People's Theatre Association of West Bengal. Early life Bagchi was born in Tantihand village, Pabna District in Bangladesh. His family was attached with political and revolutionary activities in British India. His father, Durgadas Bagchi, was a member of the Jugantar group and elder brother took part in the Royal Indian Navy mutiny in 1946. Satish Chandra Vidyabhusan (30 July 1870 - 25 April 1920) was a Bengali scholar of Sanskrit and Pali Language and principal of Sanskrit College. Early life Satish Chandra Vidyabhusan was born in 1870 in Rajbari District, British India. His father Pitambar Vidyavagish was a ''Pandit'' and astronomer. Pramod Ranjan Sengupta (1907 - 1974) was a Marxist intellectual and Bengali revolutionary, attached with of Indian National Army led by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Hemanta Kumar Sarkar ( bn, হেমন্তকুমার সরকার) (1897 — 3 November 1952) was an Indian philologist, author, biographer, editor, publisher, union leader, leader of the Indian freedom movement and an associate of Subhas Chandra Bose. Dinendra Kumar Roy (26 August 1869 – 27 June 1943) was a Bengali novelist and editor. Early life Roy was born in 1869 in Meherpur, British India. His father name was Brajanath Roy. He passed entrance from Mahisadal Raj High School and entered in Krishnagar Government College. In 1893 Roy became employed under the District judge of Rajshahi. Pramatha Nath Bose
Pramatha Nath Bose (12 May 1855 – 1934) was a pioneering Indian geologist and paleontologist. Bose was educated at Krishnagar Government College and later at St. Xavier's College of the University of Calcutta when he obtained a Gilchrist scholarship to study in London in 1874. He graduated in 1877 and went on to study at the Royal School of Mines in London and excelled in biology and paleontology. During his study at Cambridge he became a friend of Rabindranath Tagore. Lalmohan Ghosh (1849 – 18 October 1909) was the sixteenth President of the Indian National Congress and Bengali barrister and also Co-Founder of Indian National Congress.
