Krishna Hariharan (born 24 September 1955) is an Indian Test cricket umpire. Hariharan became a Twenty20 cricket umpire in 2001. He officiated in 34 One-day Internationals from 1997 to 2006, but only two Test matches. He made his debut as a Test umpire in the 1st Test between England and Bangladesh at Lord's in May 2005, in which England lost only 3 wickets to win by an innings and 261 runs within three days, and then stood in the 2nd Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Boghra in March 2006, which Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets early on the fourth day. In cricket, an umpire (from the Old French ''nompere'' meaning not a peer, i.e. not a member of one of the teams, impartial) is a person who has the authority to make decisions about events on the cricket field according to the ''Laws of Cricket''. T20 Cricket
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A One Day International (ODI) is a form of limited overs cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of overs, currently 50, with the game lasting up to 9 hours. The Cricket World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. The 2008 Indian Premier League season was the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League, established by the BCCI in 2007. The season commenced on 18 April 2008 with the final match was held on 1 June 2008. The competition started with a double round robin league stage, in which each of the 8 teams played a home match and an away match against every other team.
