Kris Harvey
Bryan Kristopher Harvey (born January 5, 1984 in Catawba, North Carolina) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He is the son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Bryan Harvey and the brother of major league pitcher Hunter Harvey. Amateur career Prior to playing professionally, Harvey attended Bandys High School. He was drafted out of high school by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round of the 2002 amateur draft, but he did not sign. He attended Clemson University. In his first year with Clemson, 2003, Harvey hit .276 in 29 at-bats. The next year, he batted .335 with eight home runs and 41 RBI in 54 games. After the 2004 season, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 2005, he hit .339 with 24 home runs and 69 RBI in 64 games. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. The Jupiter Hammerheads are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located in the town of Jupiter, Florida, Jupiter in Palm Beach County, Florida, and play their home games at Roger Dean Stadium, Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Altoona Curve
The Altoona Curve are a Minor League Baseball team based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, named after nearby Horseshoe Curve (but also alluding to the curveball, a type of pitch). The team plays in the Eastern League and is the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located in Jacksonville, Florida, and are named for shrimp caught in the area. The team plays their home games at 121 Financial Ballpark, which opened in 2003. They previously played at Sam W. Wolfson Baseball Park from 1962 until the end of the 2002 season. Designated for assignment (DFA) is a contractual term used in Major League Baseball (MLB). A player who is designated for assignment is immediately removed from the team's 40-man roster, after which the team must within seven days, return the player to the 40-man roster, place the player on waivers, trade the player, release the player, or outright the player from the 40-man roster into Minor League Baseball. Governance MLB player transactions are governed by ''The Official Professional Baseball Rules Book''.
