Kraut (YouTuber)
''Kraut'' is a German word recorded in English from 1918 onwards as an ethnic slur for a German, particularly a German soldier during World War I and World War II. Its earlier meaning in English was as a synonym for sauerkraut, a traditional Central and Eastern European food. Etymological foundations In German, the term means "herb", or designates the leaves and stem of a plant as opposed to the root. Kraut (band)
Kraut was a New York City punk rock/hardcore punk band formed in 1981. The original members were Davy Gunner (vocals), Doug Holland (guitar/vocals) Don Cowan (bass/vocals), and Johnny Feedback (drums/vocals). History Kraut's first performance was opening for The Clash at Bonds International Casino in New York on June 11, 1981. Their debut single, "Kill for Cash", and second single, "Unemployed", were both released in 1981 on the band's own Cabbage Records label. While recording their debut album, ''An Adjustment to Society'' (produced by Ryk Oakley), they opened for The Professionals (band), the Professionals at The Channel (nightclub), The Channel in Boston. Former Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones (musician), Steve Jones became friends with Kraut and recorded extra guitar tracks for three tracks on the album: "Kill for Cash", "Sell Out" and "Onward". ''Lodger'' is the 13th studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 25 May 1979 through RCA Records. After an eventful year that saw the release of two studio albums, '' Low'' and '' "Heroes"'', and many other side projects in 1977, Bowie embarked on the Isolar II world tour in 1978. During a break in the tour, Bowie regrouped with collaborator Brian Eno and producer Tony Visconti to record his next album. The final release of the Berlin Trilogy, the album was recorded mainly at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland, in September 1978. Most of the same personnel from prior releases returned, and future King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew joined from the tour. The recording sessions saw the use of techniques inspired by Eno's Oblique Strategies cards, such as having the musicians swap instruments and play old songs backwards. ''"Heroes"'' is the 12th studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 14October 1977 through RCA Records. After releasing '' Low'' earlier that year, Bowie toured as the keyboardist of his friend and singer Iggy Pop. At the conclusion of the tour, they recorded Pop's second solo album '' Lust for Life'' at Hansa Tonstudio in West Berlin before Bowie regrouped there with collaborator Brian Eno and producer Tony Visconti to record ''"Heroes"''. It was the second release of his Berlin Trilogy, following ''Low'' and preceding '' Lodger'' (1979), and the only one wholly recorded in Berlin. The Berlin Trilogy consists of three studio albums by English musician David Bowie: '' Low'', '' "Heroes"'' (both 1977) and '' Lodger'' (1979). The trilogy originated following Bowie's move from Los Angeles, California, to Europe to rid himself of worsening drug addiction. Influences included krautrock, the German music genre, and the recent ambient releases of English musician Brian Eno. Faust (English: "fist") are a German rock band from Hamburg. Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music band founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese having been the only constant member until his death in January 2015. The best-known lineup of the group was its mid-1970s trio of Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. In 1979, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann. Since Froese's death in 2015, the group has been under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning (Froese's chosen successor and the current longest-serving band member, having joined in 2005).
