Kraków Speedway
Kraków Speedway was the Polish motorcycle speedway teams based in Kraków. History 1956 to 1965 In 1956, the first club to be registered in Kraków was Auto Mobil Klub Nowa Huta (AMK Nowa Huta). The team competed in the second league during the 1956 Polish speedway season. The following season AMK Kraków (as they were called for that season) competed in the third league south group during 1957. The stadium in Nowa Huta (Odmogile Street) was constructed in 1957 and at the end of the 1957 season the AMK club was dissolved but two teams were created by the names of Cracovia Kraków and Wanda Nowa Huta. Cracovia Kraków moved to a track in Borek Fałęcki and competed in the third league in 1958, they would compete until the end of 1960 when they were dissolved due to high costs. Meanwhile, Wanda Nowa Huta gained promotion to the second division in 1958 and then won the second division (East) in 1960. Kraków Speedway Stadium
The Kraków Speedway Stadium or Stadion Sportowy KS Wanda is a 12,000-capacity motorcycle speedway stadium in Kraków, Poland. The location of the stadium is in the north east district of Nowa Huta on the Odmogile road. The venue was used by the Kraków Speedway team, who competed in the Team Speedway Polish Championship until 2019. History The stadium was purpose-built for motorcycle speedway in 1957 and was one of the first to install floodlights. On 9 July 1959, the stadium hosted an international match between Poland and Austria. On 11 October 1960, Poland hosted England in an international match that attracted a record crowd of 25,000. This was followed by being selected as a qualifying venue for the 1964 Speedway World Team Cup. In 1965, the speedway team folded and the stadium remained empty for 28 years. Unia Tarnów (motorcycle Speedway)
Unia Tarnów is a Polish motorcycle speedway club from Tarnów in Poland. The team compete in the Polish Speedway Second League (2. Liga). and have won the Team Speedway Polish Championship three times. History 1957 to 1989 The club was founded 1957 as a section of a multi-sports club of the same name, which was founded in 1928. It would not be until 2001 that the club became a separate entity but retained the same historic name. The first honour was winning the second division in 1963. Zygmunt Pytko later became the Polish champion in 1967. It has been called the "richest and most popular speedway league in the world", and attracts riders from all over the world.
