Kraan
Kraan is a German band based in Ulm and formed in 1970. It had several minor hits through the 1970s and 1980s. After a break of ten years, the group reunited in 2000. Their early style can be described as Krautrock that turned later to fusion, combining elements of both rock and jazz. Hellmut Hattler
Hellmut Hattler (born 12 April 1952 in Ulm, West Germany) is a German jazz and rock bassist and composer. Hattler took much of his early influences from Jimi Hendrix. As a child, he received violin lessons, and in the 1960s, he played guitar. Joining Peter Wolbrandt's band marked the debut of his changeover to the bass. In May 1971, he founded the pop group Kraan with the Wolbrandt brothers Peter and Jan and Johannes Pappert. Kraan's early Krautrock style later developed towards fusion, combining rock, jazz and ethnic elements. Apart from his own projects, Hattler has toured and recorded with many international musicians of various genres including Tina Turner, Billy Cobham, Joachim Kühn, Torsten de Winkel, Alphonse Mouzon, and Nippy Noya. Peter Wolbrandt
Peter Wolbrandt (born 28 October 1949 in Ulm), is a German guitarist most known as a founding member, composer, and player for 40 years in the rock and fusion band Kraan. In the latter part of the 1960s together with his younger brother Jan Fride Wolbrandt and fellow student Hellmut Hattler he played in several formations until they founded Kraan. Wolbrandt is featured in almost all the band's tours and recordings. In 1975 and 1982/83 he played in Mani Neumeiers band Guru Guru. During a two-year pause taken by Kraan in the 1970s, he published a solo album. Udo Dahmen
Udo Dahmen (born 12 July 1951 in Aachen, West Germany) is a drummer, author and CEO of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Life Udo Dahmen studied classical percussion in Aachen and Cologne from 1971 to 1976. In Paris he was trained by Dante Agostini. As a session drummer, Dahmen played together with different popular acts such as Kraan, Eberhard Schöner (feat. Sting, Gianna Nannini, Nina Hagen, Jack Bruce, Gary Brooker), Sarah Brightman, Lake, Inga Rumpf, Charly Mariano and many more. Among those, at least ten records made it to the top ten in Germany. From 1983 to 2003 Udo Dahmen was professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. In 1995 he became president of the European drummers' association Percussion Creativ. Gerry Brown (born November 9, 1951) is an American jazz drummer. Life Brown was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He began playing the drums at the age of five. He played with soul groups and played in high school with bassist John Lee, with whom he attended music academy in 1970. In 1971, he moved to New York, where he played for Lionel Hampton. In 1972 he moved to the Netherlands with Lee to join Chris Hinze's rock jazz group. With bassist John Lee as co-leader, he recorded a series of albums in the 1970s. Alongside Lee, he also worked for Jasper van 't Hof, , Charlie Mariano, Eef Albers and Gary Bartz in the mid-1970s. Subsequently, they were members of Larry Coryell's The Eleventh House for two years; Brown also played for Stanley Clarke and Chick Corea.
