Kouat Noi
Kouat Noi (born 29 October 1997) is a South Sudanese-Australian professional basketball player for the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). Early life Noi was born in Khartoum, Sudan during the height of the Second Sudanese Civil War. His family fled the country amid escalations of the conflict, first to Egypt and later to Australia in 2002. Growing up in Newcastle, he blossomed into a basketball star, and went on to average 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds while helping lead Australia to a silver medal at the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai. Noi attended St Francis Xavier's College in Newcastle. In 2014, Noi moved to the United States and enrolled at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, where he briefly played alongside Ben Simmons. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Second Sudanese Civil War
The Second Sudanese Civil War was a conflict from 1983 to 2005 between the central Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Army. It was largely a continuation of the First Sudanese Civil War of 1955 to 1972. Although it originated in southern Sudan, the civil war spread to the Nuba mountains and the Blue Nile. It lasted for 22 years and is one of the longest civil wars on record. The war resulted in the independence of South Sudan six years after the war ended. Roughly two million people died as a result of war, famine and disease caused by the conflict. Sudan Men's National Basketball Team
The Sudanese national basketball team is the national team of the country of Sudan. It is administered by the Sudan Basketball Association. In the 1960s and 1970s, the country was among the continent's basketball elite as it finished runner-up at the FIBA Africa Championship in 1962 and won bronze in 1975. The country has produced some NBA players, most notably Manute Bol and Luol Deng of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Deng, however, is not eligible for the national team, as he has been naturalized in the United Kingdom and plays for the UK in FIBA competitions and England in the Commonwealth Games. Jamie Dixon
James Patrick Dixon II (born November 10, 1965) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the TCU Horned Frogs men's team, where he played college ball. He previously served as the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh men's basketball team from 2003 through 2016. 2017 National Invitation Tournament
The 2017 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I Teams that were not selected to participate in the 2017 NCAA tournament. The annual tournament was played on campus sites in the first three rounds (the host team being the team with the higher seeding), with the semifinals and championship game being held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The tournament began on Tuesday, March 14 and ended on Thursday, March 30. The NIT Selection Show aired Sunday March 12 on ESPNU.
