Kosmaj
Kosmaj (Serbian Cyrillic: Космај, ) is a mountain south of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. With an elevation of 626 meters, it is the highest point of the entire Belgrade City area and is nicknamed one of two "Belgrade mountains" (the other being the mountain of Avala). Location The Kosmaj, is located 40 kilometers south-east of Belgrade. Entire area of the mountain belongs to the Belgrade City area, majority of it being in the municipalities of Mladenovac and Sopot, with eastern slopes being in the municipality of Grocka, and northern and north-western extensions in the municipalities of Barajevo and Voždovac. Etymology It is speculated that the mountain was named after the Celtic word ''cos'' meaning forest, and ''maj'' pre-Indo-European word meaning mountain. Sopot, Serbia
Sopot ( sr-cyr, Сопот, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the town has a population of 4,548 inhabitants while the municipality has 20,367 inhabitants. Location Sopot is located on the slopes of the Kosmaj mountain, south of Belgrade. The mountain is some away from the town. History The area has remains from Roman period. There is a masonry drinking fountain in Sopot, for which the Roman stones from some now disappeared structure were used. Mladenovac
Mladenovac ( sr-cyr, Младеновац, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the municipality has a population of 53,050 inhabitants, while the urban area has 23,314 inhabitants. Name Its name stems from word 'youth' in Serbian. According to a legend, the emergence of the name is brought in connection with a man named Mladen, who established himself after the battle on the Kosovo in 1389 with his two brothers in this desert area. Šumadija (, sr-Cyrl, Шумадија) is a geographical region in the central part of Serbia. The area used to be heavily covered with forests, hence the name (from ''šuma'' 'forest'). Ralja (river)
The Ralja ( sr-Cyrl, Раља) is a river in the Šumadija region of Serbia. It is a 51 km long left tributary to the Jezava, a distributary of the Great Morava river. It also gives its name to the surrounding Šumadija's subregion of Ralja. Barajevo
Barajevo ( sr-cyr, Барајево, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the municipality has a population of 27,110 inhabitants. Kolubara River
The Kolubara ( sr-cyr, Колубара, ) is a long river in western Serbia; it is an eastern, right tributary to the Sava river. General overview Kolubara is formed by the two small rivers Obnica and Jablanica. ''Obnica'' is the river in Western Serbia that springs at the foot of the mountain Medvednik.
