Kosan County
Kosan County is a ''kun'', or county, in Kangwŏn province, North Korea. Physical features The county is largely mountainous. The central area forms a basin. The county's highest point is Chuaesan. Major streams include the Namdaech'ŏn, Ryongjiwŏnch'ŏn, and Namsanch'ŏn. There are a total of 13 reservoirs. Forestland makes up some 63.8% of the county's area. Administrative divisions Kosan county is divided into 1 '' ŭp'' (town) and 24 '' ri'' (villages): Economy Agriculture Agriculture dominates local industry in Kosan, with crops including rice, maize, millet, wheat, barley, soybeans, and red beans. Kosan Biosciences, Inc. (stock symbol: KOSN), was a pharmaceutical company which dealt with cancer therapeutics medications. The company was working on advancing two new classes of anticancer agents through clinical development: heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) inhibitors and epothilones. Their technology platform was based on manipulation of the genetic instructions of microbes for making natural product polyketides. Rearranging the modular units in natural polyketide synthases, combining modules from different enzymes, and incorporating novel synthetic chemical starter units enabled them to produce a wide variety of novel polyketides that would be difficult to obtain via organic synthesis alone. The Ube Kosan Open was a professional golf tournament that was held in Japan from 1972 until 2001. It was played at the Ube 72 Country Club near Ube, Yamaguchi. Anja Kosan (born 12 December 2002) is a German rhythmic gymnast. She won silver in the senior team category at the 2022 World Championships. Personal life In mid-2021 she moved from Berlin to Schmiden in Germany in order to train and study at the national gymnastics training centre, trying to achieve her dream of competing at the 2024 Olympic Games. "I didn't have to worry about finding accommodation either. I moved into a shared flat provided by the STB. The move was a little less stressful for me thanks to the help of my family. Ko San (born October 19, 1976) is CEO and founder of TIDE Institute and ATEAM Ventures. Biography Ko, San was born in Busan, South Korea. A graduate of Hanyoung Foreign Language High School, Ko studied mathematics and cognitive science at Seoul National University. He won a bronze medal at a national amateur boxing tournament in 2004 and climbed a 7,546-meter high mountain in China's Xinjiang Province, Muztagh Ata, the same year. After graduating at Seoul National University, he started working at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology as a researcher. His research topic was computer vision. On December 25, 2006, he was chosen as one of two finalists in the Korean Astronaut Program, set to fly as a crew on the Russian Soyuz TMA-12 in April 2008.
