Awadhi (; ), also known as Audhi (), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in North India, northern India and Nepal. It is primarily spoken in the Awadh region of present-day Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, India. The name ''Awadh'' is connected to Ayodhya, the ancient city, which is regarded as the homeland of the Hindu god Rama. Kosali Ilayperuma Simon is the Herman B Wells Endowed Professor in health economics at School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University which she joined in 2010. Academic career She graduated with a bachelor's in economics and German Literature from Hamilton College in 1994. After a year studying in Europe as a Watson Fellow, she obtained a doctorate degree in economics from University of Maryland, College Park in 1999.
