The Perth metropolitan region or the Perth metropolitan area is the administrative area and geographical extent of the Western Australian capital city of Perth and its conurbation. Darling Scarp
The Darling Scarp, also referred to as the Darling Range or Darling Ranges, is a low escarpment running north–south to the east of the Swan Coastal Plain and Perth, Western Australia. The escarpment extends generally north of Bindoon, to the south of Pemberton. The adjacent Darling Plateau goes easterly to include Mount Bakewell near York and Mount Saddleback near Boddington. It was named after the Governor of New South Wales, Lieutenant-General Ralph Darling. History The feature was first recorded as General Darling Range by Charles Fraser, Government Botanist with Captain James Stirling aboard in March 1827. Maps from the 1830s show the scarp labelled " General Darlings Range"; this later became Darling Range, a name by which the formation was still commonly known in the late 20th century despite common understanding of it being an escarpment. Munda Biddi Trail
The Munda Biddi Trail is a long-distance mostly off-road cycling trail in Western Australia. It runs for over from Mundaring to Albany. The completed Munda Biddi Trail opened end-to-end in April 2013 when it claimed the title of the longest continuous off-road cycling trail of its kind in the world. Etymology The name ''Munda Biddi'' means "path through the forest" in the Noongar Aboriginal language, and it runs largely through an undeveloped natural corridor. The track traverses vast areas of unspoiled forests and bushland with mostly gentle terrain. While the track is open year-round riding conditions are better during spring and autumn, and potentially hazardous from December to March because of the often extreme heat and fire danger at that time of year. Jarrah Forest
Jarrah forest is tall open forest in which the dominant overstory tree is ''Eucalyptus marginata'' (jarrah). The ecosystem occurs only in the Southwest Botanical Province of Western Australia. It is most common in the biogeographic region named in consequence Jarrah Forest. Most jarrah forest contains at least one other co-dominant overstory tree; association with ''Corymbia calophylla'' is especially common, and results in which is sometimes referred to as jarrah-marri forest. Midgegooroo National Park
Midgegooroo National Park, formerly the Canning National Park, is a national park in the Perth metropolitan region of Western Australia, south-east of Perth. It is located in the City of Armadale, and part of the Jarrah Forest bioregion. Midgegooroo National Park was created as Class A reserve No. 47884 on 30 November 2004 with a size of as one of nine national parks proclaimed in the state that day. The national park, on land whose traditional owners are the Whadjuk people, was renamed in 2008 after Midgegooroo, an Australian Aboriginal elder executed in 1833 for his resistance to European settlement by the settlers. It was one of a number of national and regional parks to be renamed in the state at this point, among them the Pickering Brook National Park, which borders Midgegooroo to the north, and was renamed Korung National Park.
