Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Korovin (russian: Евге́ний Алекса́ндрович Коро́вин; – 23 November 1964) was a Soviet jurist specializing in international law. He was a prominent early scholar of space law and is "considered the founder of the Russian science of space law, in whose origin he played a singular role." Korovin held several academic and legal positions at Moscow State University, the United Nations, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague. Biography Korovin graduated from the Moscow State University Faculty of Law in 1915. In his early career, Korovin lectured in numerous universities and institutes of higher learning in Moscow, including the Diplomatic Academy. The Korovin pistol (Пистолет Коровина, Тульский Коровин (ТК), GAU Index 56-A-112) is regarded as the first Soviet semi-automatic pistol. History Sergey Korovin designed the first 7.65 mm caliber military pistol around 1922, while working at the famous Tula arms factory TOZ. However, this model proved too complex and difficult. But in 1925 the sport society '' Dinamo'' placed an order for a 6.35 mm pocket pistol for sports and civic needs. By 1926, Korovin completed development of a model, and at the end of that year, TOZ began its release. The following year the gun was approved for use, having received the official title of «Pistol TK Model 1926». The gun was not intended for the army, and it was considered a "civilian weapon". Korovin Island (''Tanĝanuk'' in Aleut) is one of the Shumagin Islands in the Gulf of Alaska south of the Alaska Peninsula in the Aleutians East Borough of Alaska, United States. The island lies northeast of Popof Island and across the Unga Strait from the mainland peninsula. To its southeast are Andronica Island, and further southeast, Nagai Island. Korovin island has a land area of 67.85 km2 (26.197 sq mi) and is uninhabited by humans.
