Koreana (band)
Koreana, formerly known as Arirang Singers, are a South Korean band. They were formed in 1962 and started being popular internationally after they released their debut album ''DisCorea'' on Polydor label in 1979. The single "Dark Eyes" from the eponymous album was a big hit. After the great success, they continued to release more albums: ''Burning Fantasy'' (1980) and ''Highlights (Too Much Love)'' (1983). Koreana Hotel (Seoul)
Koreana Hotel is a skyscraper and hotel on Taepyeongno, in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea. The hotel, with a marble lobby, contains 344 rooms and is 14 stories high. Construction Construction began on the hotel on 20 December 1969 and it was completed exactly two years later in 1971. On 11 April 1989 it received 4-star status by Tourist Hotel Classification. 9 rooms were added in October 1998 and another 9 in April 2004. In 2001 renovation was completed of its exterior to a sleek looking modern hotel. ''Koreana'' is the Korea Foundation’s quarterly, which is published in 11 languages to promote Korean arts and culture around the world. History Koreana was initially launched as an English-language magazine in the fall of 1987. The first Japanese edition was issued the following year, and in 1993, soon after South Korea and China established diplomatic relations, the Chinese edition was introduced. The Spanish and French editions followed soon, and as the hallyu (Korean Wave) began to spread at the turn of the new millennium, Koreana responded to the rising global interest in Korean culture by launching Arabic, German, Indonesian, and Russian editions.
