Korean Cultural Center New York
The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY; ) is a branch of the South Korean Korean Cultural Centers located in New York City, New York, United States. Inaugurated in December 1979, KCCNY works to establish and promote Korean culture and aesthetics in New York through diverse cultural and artistic activities including gallery exhibitions, performing arts concerts, film festivals, and educational programs. The current director is Yun Jeung Jo. History The Korean Culture and Information Service launched in 1971 as an arm of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to serve as a communication bridge to promote Korea overseas and shed light on international cultural exchanges. Park Yang-woo
Park Yang-woo (; born 20 November 1958) is a South Korean professor at Chung-Ang University's Graduate School of Art previously served as President Moon Jae-in's second Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2019 to 2021. He was previously the deputy head of the Ministry under President Roh Moo-hyun from 2006 to 2008. After passing the state exam in 1979, he worked as a public servant at multiple agencies from the Ministry and Ministry-run Korean Cultural Center New York to Office of the President for over 20 years before leaving the public service as the deputy head of the Ministry (then Ministry of Culture and Tourism) in 2008.
