Korean Basketball League Ethnic Draft
The Korean Basketball League Ethnic Draft was first established in 2009 to give mixed blood Korean basketball players of foreign nationality a chance to play in the KBL without being counted as foreigners. The first draft was held on 3 February 2009 and it resulted in five out of seven applicants being picked. The following year, another draft was held but only one player was selected. Rules Each team is allowed to have only one player from the ethnic draft at any given time. The Korean Basketball League (KBL; ) is a professional men's basketball league in South Korea which was established in 1997. The league consists of ten teams and each team plays a total of 54 games (27 home and 27 away) in the regular season. History The Korean Basketball League was established in 1997. Prior to the professional era, domestic basketball was an amateur sport and all teams, whether sponsored by a corporate company or a university, participated in the National Basketball Festival (Korean: 농구대잔치), a competition sanctioned by the Korea Basketball Association. Eric Sandrin
Lee Seung-Jun (born Eric Lee Sandrin; 18 May 1978) is an American-born South Korean professional basketball player. He last played for Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League. Career Lee's basketball career took him around the world, including two years in Luxembourg and one in Brazil. He later returned to the United States, and was playing for the Bellingham Slam in 2005 when he caught the attention of scouts for the Harlem Globetrotters, and signed for a season with them. On the team, he acquired the nickname "Shanghai". That year, he also played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Summer League and the Sacramento Kings in the NBA preseason. Seoul Samsung Thunders ( ko, 서울 삼성 썬더스) is a professional basketball team, competing in the Korean Basketball League. Ever since the club was founded in 1978, they have been associated with Samsung Electronics. Initially based in Suwon, they relocated to Seoul in 2001, and had played their home games at Jamsil Arena ever since. Changwon LG Sakers
Changwon LG Sakers are a basketball team located in the city of Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. They play in the Korean Basketball League, and their home arena is Changwon Gymnasium which has a capacity for approximately 6,000 people. The team's main sponsor is LG Electronics which has its offices in Changwon. The professional team was established in 1997 and was named Gyeongnam LG Sakers. The name was changed to the Changwon LG Sakers after the first season. LG Sakers has yet to win a KBL championship. The closest they came was in the 2000–01 season, when they finished as runners-up, losing to Suwon Samsung Thunders in the finals. The Anyang Korea Ginseng Corporation ( ko, 안양 KGC인삼공사), or Anyang KGC, is a professional basketball club in the Korean Basketball League, based at Anyang Arena in the city of Anyang. Suwon KT Sonicboom () is a professional basketball club based in Suwon, South Korea which plays in the Korean Basketball League. Their home games are played at the Suwon KT Sonicboom Arena. Founded in 1997, the team was initially based in Gwangju and was later relocated to Yeosu, Busan and Suwon, respectively. Moon Tae-jong (; or Cameron Jarod Stevenson; born December 1, 1975) is a South Korean former professional basketball player at the small forward position. He is 1.99 m in height. Moon played at the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship games, representing South Korea. He is currently a head basketball coach at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
