Korea International Broadcasting Foundation
The Korea International Broadcasting Foundation (KIBF; Korean: 한국국제방송교류재단) is a South Korean non-profit group media broadcasting network provider. The company describes its main focus as producing 24/7 news services to improve the international image of South Korea. It competes with KBS World, which is owned by the state-owned KBS, as they both target the international public. The channels have seemingly at least some overlapping, and the need of KIBF as a PR company has come into question. History The company was founded on April 10, 1996 and began domestic broadcasting the following year. In 1999, it began broadcasting TV to the rest of the world. By 2000, its satellite signal had covered the globe. ''The Korea Times'' is the oldest of three English-language newspapers published daily in South Korea. It is a sister paper of the ''Hankook Ilbo'', a major Korean language daily; both are owned by Dongwha Enterprise, a wood-based manufacturer. Arirang International Broadcasting is a South Korean-based broadcasting company operated by the International Broadcasting Exchange Foundation. It began as a cable TV service in South Korea on February 3, 1997, and opened Korea's first overseas satellite broadcasting in 1999 in the Asia-Pacific region. KBS World is the Korean Broadcasting System's international broadcasting service. It consists of KBS World Radio, KBS World television channel and KBS Korea.
