Koos Formsma
Koos Formsma (born 1957 in Leeuwarden, Friesland) is a Dutch businessman and former chairman of Dutch football club SC Heerenveen. A former field hockey player from HC Bloemendaal, Formsma became the club's chairman on 1 October 2006 after Riemer van der Velde resigned his 23-year spell at the team. Sportclub Heerenveen (; West Frisian: Sportklub It Hearrenfean) is a Dutch football club from Heerenveen. They currently play in the Eredivisie, the top level of football in the Netherlands. History Sportclub Heerenveen was founded on 20 July 1920 in the town of Heerenveen, Friesland, as Athleta. It changed name twice, first to Spartaan and then to v.v. Heerenveen in 1922. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. Riemer Van Der Velde
Riemer van der Velde (born 28 October 1940 in Bakkeveen) is a Dutch football functionary, who was a chairman of Dutch football club SC Heerenveen. He was in charge of the club for 23 years before resigning on 1 October 2006. At the time Van der Velde became chairman of SC Heerenveen in 1983 the club had many debts and was an anonymous club in the Eerste Divisie. He realized to get rid of the debts before appointing Foppe de Haan as the club's manager, who was at the time coaching amateur side FC Steenwijk. Van der Velde and De Haan became a close duo from 1985 to 2004, although De Haan was replaced as a manager in 1988 and was given another job at the club. In the upcoming seasons a few other managers were not able to improve Heerenveen's football potential until Fritz Korbach, who previously managed FC Wageningen, PEC Zwolle, FC Volendam and FC Twente towards the Eredivisie, also managed Heerenveen to the highest level of Dutch football. Lelystad
Lelystad () is a municipality and a city in the centre of the Netherlands, and it is the capital of the province of Flevoland. The city, built on reclaimed land, was founded in 1967 and was named after Cornelis Lely, who engineered the Afsluitdijk, making the reclamation possible. Lelystad is approximately below sea level.
