Kontroll
''Kontroll'' is a 2003 Hungarian comedy–thriller film. Shown internationally, mainly in art house theatres, the film is set on a fictionalized version of the Budapest Metro system. "Kontroll" in Hungarian refers to the act of ticket inspectors checking to ensure a rider has paid their fare. The story revolves around the ticket inspectors, riders, and a possible killer. The film was written and directed by Nimród Antal and stars Sándor Csányi, Zoltán Mucsi, and Csaba Pindroch. The film was entered in a number of film festivals in Europe and North America. It won the Gold Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival and was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. It was also Hungary's submission for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2004 Academy Awards. Sándor Csányi (actor)
Sándor Csányi (born 19 December 1975) is a Hungarian actor. Csányi aimed to be an actor from an early age and was admitted into the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest on his fourth attempt. In 2002, he became a member of the Radnóti Theatre in Budapest. His earliest film role was lending his voice for the 1999 film ''Sitiprinc'' and he followed this up by starring in shorts ''Az Ember, akit kihagytak'' and ''uristen@menny.hu (god@heaven.hu)'' the following year. He then had small roles in a number of films until 2003 when he starred in Nimród Antal's critically acclaimed '' Kontroll''. He has since become somewhat of a leading man in Hungarian cinema, starring in such films as ''Just Sex and Nothing Else'', ''Rokonok'' and ''Children of Glory''. He was married to Hungarian actress Lia Pokorny who he has worked alongside on a number of films. They have one child, Michael (2003). Nimród Antal
Nimród E. Antal (; born November 30, 1973) is a Hungarian Americans, Hungarian-American film director, screenwriter and actor. Life and career Antal was born in Los Angeles, California, to parents of Hungarian people, Hungarian descent. In 1991, following his father's advice, Antal moved to Hungary to study at the Hungarian Film Academy. After graduating he began work in the film and television industry; in 2005, he returned to Los Angeles and continued to work in the film and television industry in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. Neo (Hungarian Band)
Neo is a Hungarian indie-electronic band, best known for producing the music for the movie '' Kontroll''. History The band was formed in autumn of 1998 from the idea of Mátyás Milkovics. During the first five years of existence, Márk Moldvai worked with Mátyás Milkovics as a duo. Their first single was released in 1998, an adaptation of "The Pink Panther Theme". 2004 marked the birth of an entirely new Neo, in which, with Mátyás Milkovics, were Enikő Hodosi, Péter Kőváry and Gergő Szőcs, an electro-drummer who joined the creative group in the second part of the year. On 27 June 2022, former band mate, Péter Kőváry died at the age of 50. Gyula Pados
Gyula Pados (; born 2 April 1969) is a Hungarian cinematographer. Life and career Pados was born in Budapest, Hungary. In 1990, he attended the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest as a cinematographer. He worked as a camera assistant to Academy Award-winner Vilmos Zsigmond. As a university student, he and his friends founded a company, which is still the third largest Hungarian commercial film studio. His diploma work was cinematographing and directing ''Hajnal'', for which he was awarded several prizes. Then he cinematographed ''The dance''. Later, he made ''Angyal utca'' with a completely Hungarian team. In England, he shot the short movie ''Meter Running'', written by Charles Martin and directed by David Moore. Hungary has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since 1965. Only France has a longer unbroken streak entering the Foreign Oscar competition. The Best Foreign Language Film Award is handed out annually by the United States Academy Award for Best International Feature Film to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. Zoltán Mucsi (born 8 September 1957 in Abony) is a Hungarian actor. He has appeared in more than sixty films since his debut in 1983. Zoltán Mucsi was born in Abony, and in his childhood, he originally wanted to be a footballer. In 1979 he joined to the Szigligeti Theatre in Szolnok as assistant actor.
