The Coalition of the Radical Left – Progressive Alliance ( el, Συνασπισμός Ριζοσπαστικής Αριστεράς – Προοδευτική Συμμαχία, Synaspismós Rizospastikís Aristerás – Proodeftikí Simachía), best known by the syllabic abbreviation SYRIZA (, el, ΣΥΡΙΖΑ ; a pun on the Greek adverb , meaning "from the roots" or "radically"), is a left-wing political party in Greece. It was founded in 2004 as a political coalition of left-wing and radical left parties, and registered as a political party in 2012. A left-wing populist, democratic socialist, progressive and social democratic party, Syriza holds a pro-Europeanist stance. Syriza also advocates for alter-globalisation, feminism, LGBT rights, and secularism. Syriza is the second largest party in the Hellenic Parliament.
