Konstantine Lortkipanidze
Konstantine Lortkipanidze ( ka, კონსტანტინე ლორთქიფანიძე, russian: link=no, Константин Лордкипанидзе; 7 January 1905 – 30 July 1986) was a Soviet and Georgian writer. Hero of Socialist Labour (1985). Life Early years Konstantine Lortkipanidze was born on 7 January 1905 in the village of Didi Jikhaishi. He attended Kutaisi Humanitarian Technical School, and graduated in 1924. That year he published his first poem. In 1926 he published his first collection of poetry. At first he was strongly influenced by the Georgian Symbolists, but soon left them and declared himself a proletarian poet. He wrote many pompous poems about the revolutionary struggle. Lortkipanidze was an active participant and agitator in the 1937 purges that led to the deaths of many of his writer colleagues, as a detailed historical study has shown. Kutais Governorate
The Kutaisi or Kutais Governorate was a province ('' guberniya'') of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire. It roughly corresponded to most of western Georgia throughout most of its existence, and most of the Artvin Province (except the Hopa and Yusufeli districts) of Turkey between 1878 and 1903. Created out of part of the former Georgia-Imeretia Governorate in 1846, the governorate also included Akhaltsikhe uezd before its cession to the Tiflis Governorate in 1867. The Kutaisi Governorate bordered the Sukhumi Okrug to the northwest, the Kuban Oblast to the north, the Terek Oblast to the northeast, the Tiflis Governorate to the southeast, the Batum Oblast to the southwest, and the Black Sea to the west. ''Gantiadi'' ( ka, განთიადი, russian: рассвет, ''The Dawn'') is a monthly literary magazine published in Georgia. It was founded in 1975 at a time when the Soviet Union was trying to promote Russian and discourage use of other languages, so at first disguised itself as an "almanac". In 2019 the government recognized it as an intangible cultural heritage monument. History ''Gantiadi'' may be seen as a revival of the magazine of the same name published in Tsarist Georgia, founded by students of the Kutaisi Gymnasium in 1887, with the aim of supporting national liberation ideas. The government suppressed it in its second year, but it was revived in 1904. Revived again, ''Gantiadi'' was published from 1913 to 1915. The Order of the Badge of Honour (russian: орден «Знак Почёта», orden "Znak Pochyota") was a civilian award of the Soviet Union. It was established on 25 November 1935, and was conferred on citizens of the USSR for outstanding achievements in production, scientific research and social, cultural and other forms of social activity; for promotion of economic, scientific, technological, cultural and other ties between the USSR and other countries; and also for significant contribution to basic and applied research. The order was awarded 1,574,368 times. The "Order of the Badge of Honour" was replaced by the "Order of Honour" (russian: Орден Почёта) by a Decree of the Presidium of the USSR on 28 December 1988.
