The women's long jump at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on March 18, 2016. On paper, Brittney Reese came into this meet with a 20 cm better personal best. But the personal best came before a 2014 injury. Her 2015 season was still hampered by recovery. Ivana Španović wasn't reading the paper and took the first round lead with a new indoor personal best 7.00, just short of her outdoor personal best of 7.02. Reese jumped 6.97 to assume second place but couldn't match that until her fifth round jump when she equalled it exactly. The competition is also for the qualifying trial for the Japanese national team of international competitions. History In 1913, it was first held in Tokyo as by the Japan Amateur Sports Association. Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos is a multi-purpose stadium located in the neighbourhood of Engenho de Dentro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is used mostly for football matches and athletics and is the home stadium of the football club Botafogo. Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics were held during the last 10 days of the games, from 12 to 21 August 2016, at the Olympic Stadium. The sport of athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics was made into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Competition schedule Track and field events were held at João Havelange Olympic Stadium, while the race walks and marathon start and finish in Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Sambódromo, respectively. Apart from the race walks and marathon, ten track and field events held finals in the morning session for the first time since 1988.
