Balakrishna Bhagwant Borkar
Balakrishna Bhagwant Borkar (30 November 1910 – 8 July 1984) was a poet from Goa, India. Bā Bha Borkar, also known as Ba-ki-baab, started writing poems at an early age. The author Vi SA Khandekar was an early champion of Borkar's poetry. Borkar joined Goa's fight for freedom in the 1950s and moved to Pune, where he worked for the radio. Most of his literature is written in Marathi, though his Konkani output is also considerable. He excelled as a prose writer as well. His long poems ''Mahatmayan'', an unfinished poem dedicated to Gandhi), and ''TamaHstotra'' (upon the possibility of blindness due to diabetes and old age) are famous. One of his famous poems is "Mazha Gaav", meaning "My village". After Borkar's death, Pu La Deshpande and his wife Sunitabai performed public readings of Borkar's poetry. Madhav Borcar
Madhav Borkar (also Borcar, in Konkani वेणी माधव बोरकर) is a noted Konkani poet, former station director of All India Radio and Konkani litterateur based in Goa, India. Work, life Borkar was earlier station director of All India Radio, Panaji (Panjim). As a broadcaster, he has also worked in the government-run radio stations at Mumbai, Mangalore and Kolhapur. In 2015, Borkar replaced Pundalik Narayan Naik as the president of the Goa Konkani Akademi. In March 2018, he completed 50 years in poetry, and has published eight volumes of verse. He is married to Mankarnika and they have two children, daughter Yogini and son Chinmay. Literary output Borkar wrote poetry since 1968. His first collection was published while he was still a schoolboy. At the age of 15, his ''Chanvar'' got into print. Manohar Rai Sardesai
Dr. Manohar Rai Sardesai (18 January 1925 – 22 June 2006) was a Konkani poet, writer and French translator from Goa, India. He received his ''Doctorat ès lettres françaises'' for his thesis "L'image de l'Inde en France" from the University of Sorbonne. He has been credited for an upsurge of modern Konkani poetry. Sardesai died in 2006. Early life Manohar Rai Sardesai was born on 18 January 1925. He passed his matriculation examination in 1942 from the Bhatikar Model High School in Margao. He obtained a First Class First in Bachelor of Arts from the University of Bombay in 1947. He successfully completed his Master of Arts, also with the First Class First in French and in Marathi from the same university in 1949. He obtained his ''Doctorat ès lettres françaises'' in 1958 from the University of Sorbonne, Paris and taught French in Bombay at the University of Bombay and the University of Goa. Nagesh Karmali
Nagesh (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; (27 September 1933 – 31 January 2009) was an Indian actor, mostly remembered for his roles as a comedian in Tamil films during the 1960s. Nagesh was born in Dharapuram. He acted in over 1,000 films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist. He has also acted in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. Nagesh's style of comedy was largely inspired by Hollywood actor Jerry Lewis. Similarities between Nagesh and Lewis earned Nagesh the sobriquet the "Jerry Lewis of India". He was also nicknamed as the King of Comedy due to his impeccable comedy timing and body language. Pandurang Bhangi
Vithoba, also known as Vi(t)thal(a) and Panduranga, is a Hindu deity predominantly worshipped in the Indian state of Maharashtra and Karnataka. He is generally considered as a manifestation of the god Vishnu, or his avatar Krishna. Vithoba is often depicted as a dark young boy, standing arms akimbo on a brick, sometimes accompanied by his consort Rakhumai. Vithoba is the focus of an essentially monotheistic, non-ritualistic bhakti-driven Varkari faith of Maharashtra and the Haridasa faith of Karnataka. Vithoba Temple, Pandharpur is his main temple. Vithoba legends revolve around his devotee Pundalik who is credited for bringing the deity to Pandharpur, and around Vithoba's role as a saviour to the poet-saints of the Varkari faith.
