Kolvereid Kirke
Kolvereid is a town in the municipality of Nærøysund in Trøndelag county, Norway. The town of Kolvereid is located at the west end of the Kolvereidvågen bay, off of the inner part of the Foldafjord. The Norwegian County Road 770 runs through the town, connecting it to Rørvik to the west and Foldereid to the east. The town was the administrative centre of the old Nærøy Municipality until 2020 when it was merged into Nærøysund Municipality. The municipality of Nærøy declared town status for the village of Kolvereid in 2002, making it the smallest town in Norway. The town has a population (2018) of 1,723 and a population density of . The village is located near the inner part of the Folda fjord, the ''Innerfolda'', just south of the border with Nordland county. Betzy Marie Holter (née Jordal, May 28, 1893 – November 9, 1979) was a Norwegian actress. Holter made her stage debut in 1913 as Randi in Olav Hoprekstad's ''Bjørnefjell'', one of the opening performances at the Norwegian Theater. She had a number of major roles at the theater in the years that followed, such as Milja in Oskar Braaten's ''Ungen'' and Klara Gullborg in a stage version of Selma Lagerlöf's '' Kejsarn av Portugallien''. Kolvereid (municipality)
Kolvereid is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the central part of what is now the municipality of Nærøysund in Trøndelag county. The municipality included both sides of the central part of the Folda fjord. The administrative centre was the village of Kolvereid where the Kolvereid Church is located. History The municipality of Kolvereid was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). In 1860, the northern islands and coastal area of Kolvereid (population: 1,702) was separated to become the new municipality of Leka. Jacob Wilhelm Nordan
Jacob Wilhelm Nordan (23 February 1824 – 11 April 1892) was a Danish-born, Norwegian architect. During his career, he was one of the most prolific church architects in Norway. Biography Nordan was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and came to Norway as a child with his mother. He attended the Royal Drafting School (''Den Kongelige Tegneskole'') in Christiania (now Oslo), where Johannes Flintoe, Christian Heinrich Grosch and Johan Henrik Nebelong were among his teachers. From 1849 to 1852, Nordan worked under architect Johan Henrik Nebelong as assistant and building manager during the construction of Oscarshall. From 1852 to 1855, he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and received travel grants to Bavaria and Austria. Kolvereid Church
Kolvereid Church ( no, Kolvereid kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Nærøysund municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the town of Kolvereid. It is the one of the churches for the Nærøy parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1874 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 350 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1597, but the church was not new that year. The first church at Kolvereid was a small chapel that was likely built during the 15th century. Records show that in the late 1500s, the chapel typically had two worship services each year. Nærøysund is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Namdalen. The municipality was established on 1 January 2020 after the merger of the old municipalities of Vikna and Nærøy. The municipality is unique in that it has two equal administrative centre: Kolvereid and Rørvik.
