Kollam Port Road ( ml, കൊല്ലം പോര്ട്ട് റോഡ്) or Port Road, Kollam is a four lane road in the city of Kollam, India. The road connects historic Port of Quilon'' (Kollam Port)'' and Vaddy with Kochupilamoodu in the city through Kollam Beach. History A detailed plan for constructing a four lane road to connect century-old Port of Quilon with Kollam city was first suggested by P. K. Gurudasan, the then Labour minister of Kerala state, in 2007. V. S. Achuthanandan lead LDF ministry had sanctioned fund in 2009-2010 Kerala budget, to take over 71.5 cents of land from Kochupilammoodu bridge road to the Port road from private parties and also sanctioned Rs.2.43 crore for road construction works. Kollam
Kollam (), also known by its former name Quilon , is an ancient seaport and city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. It is north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. The city is on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada river. It is the headquarters of the Kollam district. Kollam is the fourth largest city in Kerala and is known for cashew processing and coir manufacturing. It is the southern gateway to the Backwaters of Kerala and is a prominent tourist destination. National Highway 66 (India)
National Highway 66, commonly referred to as NH 66 (erstwhile NH-17 and a part of NH-47), is a mostly 4 lane long busy National Highway that runs roughly north–south along the western coast of India, parallel to the Western Ghats. It connects Panvel (a city south of Mumbai) to Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari), passing through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The highway is undergoing a major overhaul in Karnataka, where the state government has accepted the NHAI's request of international standard, 60-metre-wide national highway with grade separators. The complete stretch from the Goa border (near Karwar) to the Kerala border (near Talapady) is being widened to four lanes, with space to accommodate future expansion to six lanes. Kollam Canal
Kollam Canal or Quilon Canal or Kollam Thodu is a 7.7 km long canal system passing through the city of Kollam, India. It is a part of National Waterway-3 and 78 km long Kollam-Trivandrum (Kovalam) State waterway project. History The Kollam canal was built on 1880 and is a bustling part of 560 km long Thiruvananthapuram–Shoranur canal(TS Canal) waterway project, also used as a means for transport of both people and goods, as an avenue for leisure and the water even used for irrigation and drinking. Asramam or Ashramam is one of the prime locations in Kollam city of Kerala, India. It is one among the 55 wards of Kollam Municipal Corporation. Kavanad
Kavanad is a suburban area of Kollam Municipal Corporation in Kerala. It is a major market town located at the northern suburb of Kollam City in India. It is coming under Sakthikulangara zone of Kollam Municipal Corporation. It is just 3 km from the port town of Neendakara. The West Coast Canal or National Waterway No 3 is a long inland navigational route located in Kerala, India, which runs from Kollam to Kottapuram. It was declared a National Waterway in 1993. In addition to the main stretch, Champakara and Udyogmandal canals are navigable and connect the industrial centers of Kochi to Kochi port Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Shipping is coordinating the task for developing, monitoring and administering national waterways. Tangasseri Bus Terminal or Tangasseri Bus Bay is a bus station in the city of Kollam, India. The bus terminal is opened on 6 September 2014 by Prasanna Earnest, the then Mayor of Kollam city. History The intention behind the bus terminal project was to cater the seaside enclave, Tangasseri, with a safe and comfortable way of transportation. Tangasseri witnesses heavy traffic congestion during the morning and evening peak hours because of the hundreds of vehicles reaching there to drop students to the two leading schools in the city, Infant Jesus School and Mount Carmel School.
