Kolejka (game)
''Kolejka'' (; Polish for "queue" or "line (of people)") is a board game designed by Karol Madaj and launched in February 2011 by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance. It was designed to teach young generations about the hardships under communism (1945–1989), particularly the difficulty of acquiring consumer goods in the shortage economy. The game has been described as inspired by ''Monopoly''. However unlike Monopoly it is not a Roll-and-move game, and instead it utilizes Worker Placement, Set Collection and Take That mechanics. Educational purpose Kolejka is one of several educational and historical games released by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance (IPN). Karol Madaj, the game's creator, said the goal was to "show young people and remind the older ones what hard times these were and what mechanisms were at play". Karol Madaj
Karol Madaj (; born 9 February 1980) is a Polish board game designer. Best known for Kolejka (game), Kolejka, he has designed games for Poland's Institute of National Remembrance, the Polish Humanitarian Organisation, and the National Centre for Culture. In 2013, he was awarded Poland's Cross of Merit (Poland), Gold Cross of Merit for services in the development of historical awareness. The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (russian: Федеральная служба по надзору в сфере защиты прав потребителей и благополучия человека) or Rospotrebnadzor (russian: Роспотребнадзор, link=no) is the federal service responsible for the supervision of consumer rights protection and human wellbeing in Russia. A line stander, queue stander, line sitter or queue professional is a person who takes a position in a queue in place of another, often for payment. The stander may queue to buy a physical object, such as a games console, for their client, or may hold the space for that person, if queueing for a service.
