Kol Tromara
Kol Tromara (1882–1945) was an Albanian nationalist and political figure of the first half of the 20th century. Tromara was born in Albanian Orthodox Qytezë, a town in today's Devoll municipality, back then part of the Ottoman Empire, son of Thanas and Kostandina Tromara. Tromara family traces their origin in Souli, having settled in the area after the atrocities of Ali Pasha. Tromara pursued his elementary studies in nearby Korçë, and higher ones in Greece. He started working after then as a pharmacist in Korçë, but due to economical difficulties and political oppression from the Ottomans decided to emigrate in US, quite common at the time for the Orthodox community members. Tromara settled in Boston, Massachusetts in 1906 and was immediately involved in the patriotic circles of the Albanian community there. Qytezë
Qytezë (or Qyteza in its definite form in Albanian) is a community in the Korçë County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Devoll. The settlement is known for being the birthplace of Anastasios Veloussi, aka Adam Anastas Beloushi, the father of comedian/actor/musicians, John and James Belushi. Qyteza ( sq, little town) was formed during the 18th century from the Orthodox settlers of nearby abandoned villages, wrecked from the Ottoman oppression. Local people have contributed to the Albanian National Awakening, June Revolution, and the National Liberation Movement (Albania). Vasil Tromara, an Albanian patriot, would be remembered for raising the Albanian flag in Korçë, on November 28, 1920, marking the end of the inter-dependencies of the region and final incorporation in Albania. Georgios Christakis-Zografos ( el, Γεώργιος Χρηστάκης-Ζωγράφος; 1863–1920) was a Greek politician, minister of foreign affairs and president of the Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus (1914). Life Studies and early career He was the son of the entrepreneur and benefactor Christakis Zografos, from Qestorat, ( Lunxhëri) in the Gjirokastër prefecture. Christakis-Zografos studied in Paris and in Munich law and political science. When he returned in Greece, he was involved in agricultural reforms especially according to the large fields his father possessed in Thessaly. During this period he supported the concept that the large feudal estates (called cifliks during the period) of the region should be expropriated and redistributed to those who owned no land. The history of Albania forms a part of the history of Europe. Enrico Tellini
Enrico Tellini (25 August 1871 – 27 August 1923) was an Italian General whose assassination provoked the Corfu incident of 1923. Biography Enrico Tellini was born in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in the province of Lucca in Tuscany. After a childhood in Florence and enlistment in the Italian army he enrolled in classes at a local military college in Florence. In 1901 he was promoted to the rank of major. He participated in the Italo-Turkish War and during the First World War held various posts until he was badly wounded and captured in the battle of Caporetto. After the end of the hostilities, he commanded Italian troops in Albania. Cham Albanians
Cham Albanians or Chams ( sq, Çamë; el, Τσάμηδες, ''Tsámidhes''), are a sub-group of Albanians who originally resided in the western part of the region of Epirus in northwestern Greece, an area known among Albanians as Chameria. Gjirokastër
Gjirokastër (, sq-definite, Gjirokastra) is a city in the Republic of Albania and the seat of Gjirokastër County and Gjirokastër Municipality. It is located in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Bedri Pejani
Bedri Pejani (or Bedri bej Ipeku; 10 October 1885 – 6 July 1946) was 20th century Albanian politician. During World War II, he was one of the founders of the Second League of Prizren. Biography Pejani was born in the city of İpek (now Peja) in the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire on 10 October 1885 with the name Bedri Thaçi, son of Abdi Thaçi (Pejani). To refer to his family origin he used the last name ''Pejani'' (from Ipek) as was custom for that period. Pejani was active in the Nationalist Movement of Albanians in the Skopje region against the Young Turk administration in 1908.
