Kohta 18
''Almost 18'' ( fi, Kohta 18) is a 2012 Finnish film. It is the first feature film by director Maarit Lalli who also wrote the screenplay with her son Henrik Mäki-Tanila, one of the main actors in the film. Plot ''Kohta 18'' tells six stories of five teenage boys on the edge of adulthood. Karri, Pete, André, Akseli and Joni are dealing with same issues as every other young man; fears and hopes for future, disillusions and problems with parents. Henrik Mäki-Tanila has said that some parts of the stories are taken from his own experiences as a teenager, as well as from the lives of his friends. Reception The film has received mixed to positive reviews. Some critics have not been impressed by the work of mostly amateur cast, while others have complimented Lalli for creating a genuinely honest and authentic portrait of what it is to be a young adult in Finland in 2012. Maarit Lalli
Maarit Lalli (born 4 April 1964) is a Finnish film director, film producer and screenwriter. Career On 3 February 2012, Lalli won three Jussi Awards for her first feature film ''Kohta 18'' (2012); for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Lalli wrote the screenplay with her son Henrik Mäki-Tanila who is also one of the main actors in the film. Her second film ''Kuudes kerta'' was released in January 2017. Nordisk Film A/S (lit. "Nordic Film") is a Danish entertainment company established in 1906 in Copenhagen by filmmaker Ole Olsen. It is the fourth-oldest film studio in the world behind the Gaumont Film Company, Pathé, and Titanus, and the oldest studio to be continuously active. The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961. Mari Elina Knihtilä (born 6 June 1971) is a Finnish actress.
