Kohra (estate)
Kohra was an estate (taluqdari) of Oudh, British India. The taluqdari was controlled by Bandhalgoti clan of Rajputs. Now it is part of Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh, India. History Narwar Nagar was of Madhya Pradesh was the original place of this Taluq. Rajkumar Sodh Dev of Narwargarh established the kingdom of Amethi in 966 and became the first Raja of Amethi. Rajkumar Himmat Sah, the younger son of Raja Bikram Sah, his decendant, established Kohra (estate) on the day of Ganga Dussehra in 1636 and established Lord Chaturbhuj and Shiva temple as the first establishment, then built Kohra Fort, where he was crowned. Babu Himmat Sah was the founder and first ruler of Kohra. Under British rule, Kohra was scene of numerous battles. Babu Bhoop Singh of Kohra (estate) had participated in the revolution of 1857. Kohra, Amethi
Kohra is a village in Amethi tehsil of Amethi district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Kohra was historically the seat of a large taluqdari estate held by a leading branch of the Bandhalgoti Rajputs. As of 2011, it has a population of 4,407 people, in 786 households. Geography Kohra's elevation is about 107 metres (351 ft) above sea level. It is surrounded by Sangrampur Block towards South, Bhetua Block towards North, Gauriganj Block towards west, Shahgarh Block towards North. The district headquarters at Amethi lie 12 kilometres (7 mi) to the west, while the state capital at Lucknow is 134 kilometres (83 mi) distant. ''Kohraa'' (''The Fog'') is a 1964 Indian thriller film, thriller horror film directed by Biren Nag, starring Waheeda Rehman, Biswajeet and Lalita Pawar. The film was adapted from Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel ''Rebecca (novel), Rebecca'', which was previously adapted by Alfred Hitchcock as Academy Award-winning ''Rebecca (1940 film), Rebecca'' (1940), though some supernatural elements were added to it, including a few from the movie ''Psycho (1960 film), Psycho''. Kohra is a 1993 Hindi mystery thriller film directed by Partho Ghosh and produced by Pushpa S Chaudhary. Plot Nisha Rathod and Anand Kohli joins in the same college and despite the ragging and pranks they play on each other initially, they fall in love with each other. During a prank at the college, Nisha gifts Anand a wooden cane while ragging him which later gets exchanged mistakenly with an identical cane that contains smuggled diamonds when Anand bumps into a stranger on a street. The diamonds belong to Sir John. ''Kohraam '' is a 1991 Bollywood film starring Dharmendra, directed by Kuku Kohli. Plot In the village of Rameshpur, Thakur (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and Kaalia Singh (Amrish Puri) were all powerful with their vicious unjust rule. The whole village used to dance according to their tune. But in that same village an honest and respectable teacher, affectionately called Masterji (Vinod Mehra) on his own singular strength was trying to educate the entire village and improve their living.
