Koh Ach Seh
Koh Ach Seh ( Khmer: កោះអាចម៍សេះ) is a Cambodian island located off the country's southern coast in the Gulf of Thailand. "Koh Ach Seh" translates to 'Horseback Riding Island', however the name is popular evolving to just Koh Seh - Horse Island. The island is part of Kep Archipelago, and is being administered by Kep Province. During the Cambodian–Vietnamese War, the Khmer Rouge used Koh Seh as an outpost. Military bunkers and fruit trees planted by the Khmer Rouge as a food source are still visible on the island nowadays. Since 2013, the island has been home to Marine Conservation Cambodia, a non-profit, marine conservation organisation which has helped setting up the Kep Archipalego Marine Fisheries Management Area, and is now in charge of its management. Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge (; ; km, ខ្មែរក្រហម, ; ) is the name that was popularly given to members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK) and by extension to the regime through which the CPK ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. The name was coined in the 1960s by then Chief of State Norodom Sihanouk to describe his country's heterogeneous, communist-led dissidents, with whom he allied after his 1970 overthrow. The Khmer Rouge army was slowly built up in the jungles of eastern Cambodia during the late 1960s, supported by the North Vietnamese army, the Viet Cong, the Pathet Lao, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Sihanoukville Province
Preah Sihanouk ( km, ព្រះសីហនុ, UNGEGN: , ALA-LC: ), also Sihanoukville, is a province (''khaet'') in southwest Cambodia on the Gulf of Thailand. The provincial capital, also called Sihanoukville, is a deep water port city and a steadily growing and diversifying urban center on an elevated peninsula. Ream National Park
The Ream National Park ( km, ឧទ្យានជាតិរាម), officially the Preah Sihanouk Ream National Park ( km, ឧទ្យានជាតិព្រះសីហនុរាម), is a national park of Cambodia located from the city of Sihanoukville in the Sihanoukville Municipality of the Sihanoukville Province in southwestern Cambodia. Koh Seh
Koh Seh or Koh Ses (Khmer: កោះសេះ, also romanized as ''Kaoh Ses'', its former French name: ''Ile a L’eau'') is a Cambodian island located in the Gulf of Thailand, inside Ream National Park, Sihanoukville province. It lies south of Koh Thmei and around south of the main-land of Sihanoukville's Ream commune. A wide sound separates it from Phu Quoc. "Koh Seh" means Horse Island. Less than 400 meters south-west of Koh Seh lies the tiny islet of Koh Ky. Koh Seh is uninhabited while most of its shores are fringed with mangroves. Marine Conservation Cambodia (MCC) is a non-profit, marine conservation organisation based in Koh Ach Seh, Kep archipelago. History MCC was first established in 2008 in Koh Rong Samloem, by British conservationist Paul Ferber. MCC was one of the driving force behind the creation of Koh Rong Samloem's first ever conservation areas, with one area designated by the local community and legislated by national Fisheries Administration and one area designated by MCC and legislated by the local authorities. These areas were the start of Koh Rong Samloem's very first Zoning plans and the precursor to the current Marine Fisheries Management Area (MFMA), Cambodia's equivalent of Marine protected area. Cambodia is divided into 25 provinces ( km, ខេត្ត, ). The capital Phnom Penh is not a province but an "autonomous municipality" ( km, រាជធានី, link=no, ; lit.
