James Stark Koehler
James Stark Koehler (10 November 1914 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin – 19 June 2006 in Urbana, Illinois) was an American physicist, specializing in metal defects and their interactions. He is known for the eponymous Peach-Koehler stress formula. Career Koehler received in 1935 his bachelor's degree from Oshkosh State Teachers College (now called the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh). In 1940 he received from the University of Michigan his PhD under David M. Dennison with thesis ''Hindered rotation in methyl-alcohol''. After a postdoc fellowship in 1940–1941, supervised by Frederick Seitz, at the University of Pennsylvania and then another fellowship for about six months in 1941–1942 at the Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, he became a physics instructor at Carnegie Tech in early 1942. Ted Koehler
Ted L. Koehler (July 14, 1894 – January 17, 1973) was an American lyricist. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972. Life and career Koehler was born in 1894 in Washington, D.C. He started out as a photo-engraver, but was attracted to the music business, where he started out as a theater pianist for silent films. He moved on to write for vaudeville and Broadway theatre, and he also produced nightclub shows. His most successful collaboration was with the composer Harold Arlen, with whom he wrote many famous songs from the 1920s through the 1940s. In 1929 the duo composed their first well-known song, " Get Happy", and went on to create "Let's Fall in Love", " Stormy Weather", " Sing My Heart" and other hit songs. Robert Koehler
Robert Koehler (November 28, 1850 – April 23, 1917) was a German-born painter and art teacher who spent most of his career in the United States. Biography Koehler was born in Hamburg; his family spelled their name Köhler until they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1854. There he attended the historic German-English Academy. He graduated from the academy in 1865, but continued his lessons with the school's drawing master, Henry Vianden, who had graduated from Munich's Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He apprenticed himself to a lithography firm. In 1871, he went to New York City for eye surgery, and stayed to work as a lithographer. After studying drawing in the night classes of the National Academy of Design, Koehler went to Munich to study fine art at the Royal Academy in 1873, studying with Karl von Piloty and Ludwig Thiersch. Horace Levering "Pip" Koehler (January 16, 1902 – December 8, 1986) was a Major League Baseball outfielder and professional basketball player. Baseball Koehler played only one season (1925) with the New York Giants. He was a small athlete at , 165 pounds, who threw and batted right-handed. Koehler attended Penn State University. On April 22, 1925, Koehler made his big league debut at the age of 23. He ended up appearing in only 12 games and collecting 2 at-bats. He struck out once and scored one run, but didn't collect a single hit. Used primarily as a pinch runner, Koehler was flawless in the field. He played his final game on September 12, 1925. Otto Koehler (20 December 1889 - 7 January 1974) was a German zoologist and pioneer Ethology, ethologist. He was a founding editor, along with Konrad Lorenz of the ''Zeitschrift für Tierpsychologie'' (Journal of animal psychology) which was later renamed as ''Ethology (journal), Ethology''. He was among the earliest to explore the numerical abilities of animals, and to use tools like film to study animal behaviour. She is currently the alternate for the Kerry Galusha rink out of the Yellowknife Curling Club in Yellowknife. Lyle P. Koehler (March 6, 1944 – July 30, 2015) was an American historian and author. Early life and education Koehler was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on March 6, 1944, to parents Irene and Lyle Koehler Sr. He attended Black River Falls High School for two years and finished at Sparta High School before enrolling at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. Koehler earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966 and his Master's degree in 1968 from the University of Cincinnati.
