Kocjan Bąk
The Bąk (Horse-Fly) was a single seat motor glider designed and built in Poland from 1936. Development Affiliated to D.W.L., the ''Warsztaty Szybowcowe'' – glider workshops produced the Bᾳk, designed by Antoni Kocjan, to compete with the ITS-8 which had been designed to a specification from the I.T.S.M. (''Instytut Techniki Szybownictwa i Motoszybownictwa'' – institute of gliding and motor-gliding techniques), for a cheap ultra-light aircraft suitable for converting trained glider pilots to powered flying. The Bąk I was an immediate success with excellent performance and good handling qualities, passing I.T.L. (''Instytut Techniczny Lotnictwa'' – Technical aviation institute) and airworthiness tests without problems, also proving to have relatively good gliding performance. Saroléa Albatros
The Saroléa Albatros was a 22 kW (30 hp) flat twin air-cooled aircraft engine, produced just before World War II in Belgium. Design and development In the 1930s, Saroléa were one of the biggest motorcycle producers in Europe, using their own engines. They also designed and built small flat twin engines for light aircraft. The Albatros dates from about 1938. It had chrome-nickel steel machined piston barrels, with closely spaced cooling fins. The cylinder heads were aluminium alloy, with hemispherical combustion chambers and bronze valve seats. The connecting rods had big and little ends with roller bearings. The crankshaft was a chrome nickel steel forging, running in a combination of roller and ball bearings; a ball bearing at the output side crankshaft end allowed the Albatros to be used in either pusher or tractor configuration. RWD (aircraft Manufacturer)
RWD was a Polish aircraft construction bureau active between 1928 and 1939. It started as a team of three young designers, Stanisław Rogalski, Stanisław Wigura and Jerzy Drzewiecki, whose names formed the RWD acronym. History They started work while studying at Warsaw University of Technology. In December 1925, with some other student constructors, they set up workshops at the Aviation Section of Mechanics Students' Club (''Sekcja Lotnicza Koła Mechaników Studentów''), where they manufactured their first designs. From 1926 they designed several aircraft alone ( Drzewiecki JD-2 and WR-1), in 1928 they joined forces as one team, starting with RWD-1 sportsplane. Apart from building planes, J.
