Marta Flantz
Marta Flantz, also spelled Flanz (1885 – 1938) was a Polish German-speaking actress and film director. She was among the first women in Poland to direct a feature film. Biography Marta Flantz was born in 1885. She studied acting in Vienna with Max Reinhardt; she acted in German. Flantz was married to the film director Bolesław Land. Together with Nina Niovilla, Stanisława Perzanowska (co-director of ''Jego wielka miłość''; 1936) and Wanda Jakubowska, she was one of four women who directed full-length feature films in the interwar Poland. In 1929, Flantz played the title role in ''The Morality of Mrs. Dulska'' (1930) – the first Polish sound film, an adaptation of Gabriela Zapolska's play with the same title. Flantz was also a co-director of the sound scenes. Because she played in German, her role was dubbed. Her acting received favorable reviews. Barbara Gilewska (1911-1986) was a Polish film actress and dancer. She was born 16 October 1911 and died in Warsaw 23 September 1986. First known as a dancer, she performed in a number of Warsaw revues, including ''Nowym Ananasie'' (1931–32), '' Qui Pro Quo'' (1932), ''Morskie Oko'' (1932), ''Feminie'' (1932), ''Rexie'' (1933), and ''Nowej Rewii'' (1934). Władysław Grabowski (1 June 1883 – 6 July 1961) was a Polish film actor. He appeared in more than 35 films between 1911 and 1957, mainly in supporting comedy roles. Biography He was born on June 1, 1883 in Warsaw as the son of Władysław and Joanna née Szałowicz. A graduate of the Drama Class of the Warsaw Music Society. He made his debut in the theater in 1905. He performed on the stages of theaters in Łódź, Warsaw, Kraków and St. Petersburg. He made his cinema debut in 1911 as the rabbi's assistant in the film Meir Ezofowicz. He acted in many films of the interwar period. He was primarily a comedy actor. He died on July 6, 1961 in Warsaw and was buried in the Alley of Merit at the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw (grave 72).
