Frank Kobina Parkes
Frank Kobina Parkes (8 March 1932 – 23 May 2004) was a Ghanaian journalist, broadcaster and poet. He was the author of one book, ''Songs from the Wilderness'' (University of London Press, 1965), but is widely anthologised and is perhaps best known for his poem "African Heaven", which echoes the title of Carl Van Vechten's controversial 1926 novel ''Nigger Heaven'', and was selected by Langston Hughes for inclusion in the groundbreaking anthology of African writing '' An African Treasury'' (1960). Parkes' poetic style, an intelligent, rhythmic free verse brimming with confidence and undercut with humour, is believed to owe much to the Senegalese poet David Diop, one of the pioneers of the ''négritude'' movement. Isaac Kobina Abban
Isaac Kobina Donkor Abban (1933 – 21 April 2001) was the Chief Justice of Ghana between 1995 and 2001. He was the ninth person to hold this position since Ghana became an independent nation. Early life and education Abban was born in 1933 at Agona Nkum in the Central Region. He had his secondary education at Mfantsipim School from 1948 to 1951. He left for the United Kingdom to study law at the University of Nottingham. Career He was called to the English bar on 24 June 1958. He returned to Ghana in 1959 and entered private practice until he was called to the bench of the High Court in May 1970. Sir Kobina Arku Korsah (3 April 1894 – 25 January 1967)''Makers of Modern Africa'', London: Africa Journal Ltd, 1981, pp. 289-90. was the first Chief Justice of Ghana (then the Gold Coast) in 1956. Kobina Nyarko
Kobina Nyarko is one of Ghana's premier young contemporary artists. Born March 14, 1972 in Takoradi, Ghana, much of Nyarko's recent work explores the symbolism of fish in paintings that feature numerous tiny fish on often large-scale canvases. This "trademark" theme makes his work easy to recognize. Nyarko was formally trained at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He graduated in 2003 with a BA in Industrial Art. William Esuman-Gwira Sekyi, better known as Kobina Sekyi (1 November 1892, Cape Coast – 20 June 1956), was a nationalist lawyer, politician and writer in the Gold Coast.
