Knut H. Njøs
Knut Hansson Njøs (1883 – 1934) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He hailed from Leikanger. After working as a police officer in Stavanger and in the Dalane District Court organization he was hired in the Sogn District Court office in 1912. He originally aligned with the Liberal Party, but changed to Labour in 1918. He co-founded the local party branch in Leikanger in 1918 and the regional branch in Sogn in 1920. He served in the school board and municipal council. In the 1927 Norwegian parliamentary election the Labour Party won one seat in Sogn og Fjordane, and Njøs was elected as the first deputy of MP Anders A. Lothe Anders Matias Abrahamsen Lothe (23 December 1875 – 1961) was a Norwegian teacher, newspaper editor and politician for the Labour Party. The Labour Party ( nb, Arbeiderpartiet; nn, Arbeidarpartiet; A/Ap; se, Bargiidbellodat), formerly The Norwegian Labour Party ( no, Det norske Arbeiderparti, DNA), is a social-democratic political party in Norway. It is positioned on the centre-left of the political spectrum, and is led by Jonas Gahr Støre. Sogn Og Fjordane
Sogn og Fjordane (; English: "Sogn and Fjordane") was, up to 1 January 2020, a county in western Norway, when it was merged to become part of Vestland county. Bordering previous counties Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland, the county administration was in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. The largest town in the county was Førde. Although Sogn og Fjordane has some industry, predominantly hydroelectricity and aluminium, it is predominantly an agricultural area. Sogn og Fjordane is also home to the Urnes Stave Church and the Nærøyfjord, which are both listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Leikanger () is a former municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It was located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn. The administrative center was the village of Hermansverk, which also was the administrative center of the old Sogn og Fjordane county. The Leikanger/Hermansverk urban area had 2,144 inhabitants (2019), about 90% of the municipal population. This urban area is often called Systrond, which is why a person from Leikanger is often called ''Systrending''. The municipality is the 342nd largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway.
