Knowles (formerly, Dusy's Rock Pile) is an unincorporated community in Madera County, California. It is located east of Raymond Raymond is a male given name. It was borrowed into English from French (older French spellings were Reimund and Raimund, whereas the modern English and French spellings are identical). It originated as the Germanic ᚱᚨᚷᛁᚾᛗᚢᚾᛞ ( ..., at an elevation of 928 feet (283 m). A post office operated at Knowles from 1902 to 1955. The name honors F. E.
